my buddy niall pacing: i have destroyed and betrayed myself for nothing

I do consider Louis offhand remark about being a csa victim to be on the smaller side in terms of problems this season. I don't think sexual abuse always needs to be represented as the most devastating traumatizing event of someone's life. It really is anecdotal for many people, they don't regard it with any more weight than any other memory of being confused and uncomfortable as a child. and in fact its something I especially see with cocsa. I don't think people would be nearly as upset if he had mentioned something non sexual like being beaten by an adult. I don't even think its out of character for Louis "I am not victim" du lac to treat such a vulnerable memory as fodder to comfort another person, or even to test the waters of how honest he can be with someone. Hell I'd even argue the specific detail of "he gave me a dollar" is soooo relevant to how Louis treats his body as a transactional device throughout the series. The problem here is that I'm giving the writers way too much grace. They've given no proof that theyre willing to consider the pain of their black characters in any way that doesn't directly serve lestat. There's no evidence they considered the implications of this addition on Louis' character at all as is the case for most of his scenes this season.

There is no death. Life is a dream. It’s a wish. Made again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and on into eternity. And I am all of it. I am everything. I am all. I am that I am.

What's most frustrating to me is that they have retroactively turned this fandom into a hostile space for anyone who cares about the first 2 seasons. Any thoughtful analysis of Louis and claudia's relationship going forward or the abuse they suffered at the hands of lestat, armand, will now immediately be shot down by racist fans saying "well ghost!claudia said this". I don't see myself interacting with this show at all in the future. Rest in peace to my good friends Louis and Claudia.
