Check out our new online exhibit entitled “Persistence and Existence: LGBTQ History at Mount Holyoke College.” It showcases different student LGBTQ+ organizations at MHC, starting in the 1970s all the way to today. The exhibit is organized chronologically and contains photographs, digital documents, and text describing the rich and complex history of exclusion that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning people face at Mount Holyoke!

um, marisa? the politics of lesbian comedy?! the production of lesbian spaces?! can we go?! i think its important to your/our future plans.

in 2007 marisa and i did a panel at emp called "From Stupid Girls to Rebel Girls: Are Girl Power Anthems Saccharine-Flavored Sisterhood or a Political Force?" at the end, we talked about a very special youtube genre: young guys lipsynching--mockingly, lovingly--super-girly, female-friendship-celebrating songs. what's this big bearish guy doing with 'rebel girl'? how about these 3 singing along to 'wannabe'? but my favorite was always these two. you know they went to the spice's reunion tour. (why not? marisa and i did!)

The book made me think a lot about documenting history from a strategic perspective. How could this story be told to incite participation in girls?

one of those people is spivak, who jon and i were discussing last night while sitting at a table with kathleen waiting for some performance art to start. ada and i had just discussed lady gaga mainstreaming re-performance.

it is a good thing i am taking a class on temporality this semester because i need spivak or hegel or judith jack halberstam to explain the demolition of my personal time-space continuum to me.
