Another poem I wrote, about a queer camp I attended. Again, no idea if it’s any good, but here it is.

Dear cis people who put your pronouns on your “hello my name is” nametags: Thank you.
I just posted about not making everyone share their pronouns, but on the other hand, it’s dope when cis people casually make their pronouns known.
This short article is a great little piece on things cis folks can do around pronouns.
Except for the part about “just asking” people about their pronouns. Don’t do that. That puts people on the spot, assumes they’re comfortable with you and anyone who can overhear -- and it often comes from cis people who consider themselves Allies™, whose intentions are shimmering gold, and who *definitely* can do wrong (in theory), but are also definitely following the playbook and Doing the Right Thing by asking you your pronouns. Asking someone their pronouns also asks them to boil down a nuanced relationship with a complex & oppressive system (gender) to a couple words -- which really seems like gendered pronouns’ fault.
So now cis ppl are like, “so what do I do?? I don’t want to misgender people but I can’t ASK THEM!?!?”
First of all, re-think your entire conceptualization of gender, including your gendered self. Then re-think gendered language and how culturally, societally we embed gender into everything. That’s why simply switching a little word or two never does the work of upturning the (cishetero)patriarchy. Saying “trans” or “transgender” instead of “transgendered” won’t even do anything to disrupt your own problematic relationship with gender, much less challenge the pervasiveness of gendered power & oppression in our world. You should still get the words right, but that’s just addressing one symptom of a much bigger issue.
Super encouraging to hear @thecomealongpondlife‘s experience as a trans counselor at a Christian summer camp! Hopefully more Christian summer camps will follow this one’s lead
Eda Yorulmazoglu's Clem's Revenge collection is a colorful tribute to her late grandfather.
Apparently some of my campers think I'm cute which is a nice ego boost lol

Sleep-away programs for L.G.B.T.Q. youth offer all the standards — s’mores, canoeing, friendship bracelets — plus gender-inclusive cabins and courses on identity.
Great piece on the summer camps out there doing the work to make summer camps places of freedom and belonging, open up spaces for kids’ diversity in gender & sexuality.
Glad they found Ann Gillard to talk about her work with trans kids at camp.
Some photos from pride camp!!
