But, jokes aside, even before Pride Month, I did see tensions rising between the lesbian and bisexual communities, and even though I don’t identify as bisexual anymore (I’m aegosexual!) it kinda makes me sad to see that nothing’s changed. I still don’t understand why there’s all this animosity between two communities that experience sapphic attraction.
There’s always this stigma that bisexuals “aren’t queer enough” or that they “don’t count”, and it kinda made it difficult to feel proud at times. To the point where in queer spaces, I felt the need to take a step back or lower my head because “Well, I’m half-straight anyways”.
I identify on the aspec now, but the time I spent identifying as bisexual is still an important part of my journey to me (and also I’m still out as bisexual irl, I’m not out as aego 😅), and while I have no interest in dating, I still experience romantic attraction towards more than one gender (just with no desire to act on it… if that makes sense).

I wanted to take the time to say that during a time of such aggressive infighting, I find solidarity between sapphic communities (and queer communities in general) so important and I appreciate it so much! I love my lesbian friends (and my queer friends in general) and you are seen, loved, and valid in however you identify! No one can strip your queerness from you, and anyone who tries is lame and stupid!
Happy Pride Month to those who are loud and proud, and happy Pride Month to those who are a little quieter about their identities, whether that’s because it’s not safe to come out or because you’ve been shunned before. I love you all very much, and all of my blogs will always be a safe space for queer individuals.
Let’s have a great month, because I want you all to remember that you matter and you deserve to be celebrated.
