Reposted from @bluejaguarlove Aging in this queer body of mine has been an ongoing journey of embracing and letting go, running away and running towards, deep disappointment and proud curiosity. and as someone whose body includes a uterus, the cycles of bleeding have had an impact. it’s something that I never quite understood - for my body, in my body - and now that I’m moving thru menopause, oof. so much is coming up! @mkali_hashiki and I joined creative healing forces and have been all up in the absurd and the sexy and the discomfort and the hilarity of menopause — and are so excited to launch a series of interactive conversations (starting feb 21) for queer, trans, intersex Black, Indigenous and people of color who have bled/bleed who are going thru menopause as well. We are all about breaking down the taboos and reclaiming the sacred and profane of our bodied experiences. Menopause (a term we are using to encompass both perimenopause and the menopausal experience) can be a confusing and often private threshold that many QTIBIPOC folks who have a uterus will experience. The ways that our bodies transgress social norms and disrupt cultural narratives informs how we navigate this liminal space. This is a time of evolution into our next incarnation(s). What do we want this evolution to look like? Who do we want to be on the other side of it? How do we understand this space without using the lens of White Supremacy and colonial notions of the “good body”? Living under White Supremacy involves hiding, being ashamed of, or disgusted by our bodily fluids. We believe that part of throwing off the lens of colonial bullshit is to embrace our bodies, the realness, to not look away from the blood & the clots. If the title makes you uncomfortable or even turns you off, we invite you to sit with that & investigate what comes up, We invite you into a 3-part conversation to explore stories we carry within our bodies about the nuances and taboos of menstrual bleeding and aging: Feb 21 - Part 1: Cultural narratives of Menopause Mar 7 - Part 2: Gender & the Aging Body Mar 21 - Part 3: Menopausal Sex & Desire #menopause #bipochealing #queeringmenopause #elderqueer https://www.instagram.com/p/CLnzvMJghzE/?igshid=1p5ilurt541r
