I always said that the PiD theory came from people not wanting to think about the Beatles being queer so they had to come up with another reason John and Paul broke up.
But...ummm...
That's exactly why it happened.
At least according to this post.
Seems like most people suspected the Beatles were a queer band, couldn't handle it, so they created the conspiracy theory.
