Set post s4, mostly disregards season 5 because it’s ooc…
Eliot is not doing well, the love of his life is dead and no truly knows how to react. All he has is this all encompassing grief that is weighing him down.
All he wants is to see Quentin again but all his spells keep failing. He’s losing hope by the hour. He tries to help with the current crisis but there’s just one problem, he keeps getting haunted by Quentin and all their moments. He keeps hearing his voice in his head.
Quentin killed himself and Penny was supposed to cross him over. Yet he’s still here — stuck in the ambient. Forced to watch how everyone moves on. He doesn’t know why he’s still here but he can’t seem to leave. He was supposed to have moved on… why is he still here. Why is he forced to watch the people he love without being able to talk to him.
The moon breaks and Eliot is the only one that can fix it but to do that he needs to break the loop he seems to have gotten stuck in. But what if he can use it to his advantage? Could he break the loop and get the man he loves back?
After all — it’s just a minor mending right?

Quentin comes back from the dead and promptly leaves town. He believes he'll never belong again, and the best idea he has is to become a nomad.
But the truth is, he really wants to come home. He just doesn't think he has one.

Eliot is staring at Quentin’s feet, the shadows of the hallway making it look like he’s at the end of a long, dark tunnel that he’d clawed his way up to get to this bedroom. “Yes, I did. After I was able to get out of bed and... walk and you were finally awake for longer than an hour, I went to see you.” He leans against the doorway again, his hands in his pockets, eyes moving from Quentin, to the window, and then back. He clears his throat - “You didn’t see me. And I- what I wanted to say- I couldn’t… and it was cowardly. I should have just talked to you, but I ran instead.”
What I wanted to say…
“What did you want to say?” Quentin asks softly.
“Why didn’t you say it?” he almost whispers, his eyes gazing up at Eliot.
Eliot looks at him and whatever he sees in Quentin’s eyes seems to break him even further, and a choked sob escapes. He runs a hand over his face and says, “You had Alice.”
Quentin swallows.
“I wanted you.”
Though I can’t recall your face - queliot folklore
“I’m Eliot,” the boy said.
“I’m Quentin. I guess this will make me the prince of my castle!”
“What does that make me?” Eliot asked.
Quentin smiled and looked over his shoulder slowly, careful not to mess up Eliot's progress. “I don’t see why we can’t both be princes.” They sat in comfortable silence for a minute as Eliot continued twisting the strands of Quentin’s hair together.
“Done!” Eliot announced taking his hands away from his hair. “Ok, we’ll both be princes. But I get to be high prince!”
Or:
Quentin swears there's something familiar about the man who befriends him his very first day at Brakebills. Eliot, on the other hand, remembers Quentin quite well from their time together as kids.
A walk through moments of Eliot and Quentin's childhood summer together, and their process of reuniting as adults.

Thanks @queliotevents for hosting this! This was written for the Queliot Folklore Event for Taylor Swift’s song “Seven.”

Despite constantly getting distracted by my (self-imposed) magicians cross stitch quest, I have managed to also write something these last few weeks
Namely, a short little fanfic for @queliotevents named Always walked a very thin line, and it can be found right here
You were my crown
Queliot + exile for @queliotevents

my tears ricochet might just be the ultimate Queliot folklore song @queliotevents
