I've seen some conflicting advice on synopses. Do you prefer having character names in all caps when first introduced or left with normal capitalization?
It honestly doesn't matter to me. My default is normal capitalization, but the all-caps for first use is perfectly fine. If another agent you're querying has more stringent guidelines, follow their requirements and just send me the same thing; no need to make more work for yourself.

Winter is coming
Happy Halloween! I’m just back from a much-needed vacation (on which I got engaged!!!) and now November is imminent...
So as promised, I’ll be opening back up to general submissions tomorrow, November 1st. Submissions will remain open I next feel overwhelmed. :) Please be sure to follow ALL QUERY GUIDELINES when submitting or you run the risk of your query being deleted. I’ve also been working my way through my full manuscript queue, though it’s not yet complete so don’t panic if you haven’t heard from me yet. Feel free to send a check-in email if you think you might have missed a response.
I can't seem to find any posts on it to be certain, but do you take re-queries if the manuscript has been significantly changed? And if so, between the query letter and the proposal, how would you like us to say that this is a revision of something you've seen before? Or, is this not something that needs to be specifically brought up at all?
I do, as long as the changes are significant. You should make sure to mention in the query letter that you have queried before but made substantial revisions to the manuscript since then, so that I know you’re not just repeat querying me with the same text as before.
I have a small idea for a book I want to write, but it is only a spec of a thought so far - yet I'm in love with it. if I gave you a tiny rundown of the plot/idea, could you tell me if you'd read it?
I wish I could say yes, but this really isn’t something I can do. I have this kind of conversation all the time with my existing clients and it’s a lot of fun, but I simply don’t have the time to discuss potential stories with everyone--I wouldn’t be able to do any of my work! If the story comes to fruition, feel free to query me when it’s done, but I can’t consider projects that aren’t complete.
On your website, it mentions a receipt for the query. Was I supposed to get an auto-response when I sent mine?
No, it refers to expected response time from my receipt of your query. There is no auto-response, but you should keep an eye on my Twitter to know how far along I am on queries. If I’ve passed the date you sent yours and you haven’t heard back, then I didn’t receive it and you should send it again.
Currently I have replied to everything received on 9/27 and earlier.
