So, I just had a weird dream that was basically a complete and complex quest mod.
There were two ways to start it. One was the Alternate Start version, which had you coming from a village near the Hammerfell border seeking water from a holy spring for your sick brother. The other had you just wandering up to the ruins where the quest went down. Either way, when you got to the ruins, you would be approached by a Dunmer named Talvor and asked to retrieve a specific sword for him. You go into the ruins to retrieve the sword, and run into a Breton swordswoman (I can’t remember her name, but I’ll call her Tamar because I know her name started with a T) who was also hired by Talvor to retrieve the same sword. She suggests you work together and split the reward, and you get her as a temporary companion. After you retrieve the sword is when the quest gets interesting; you run into a group of five adventurers who are also after the sword, one of whom is Tamar’s cousin Annette, and they really don’t want Talvor to get the sword. No matter how hard you try to get them to work together, sooner or later you have to either side with Tamar and Talvor and kill Annette and her friends, or side with Annette and her friends and kill Tamar. Interestingly enough, if you do, you can still turn on them later and hand the sword to Talvor anyway. Also, the shrine with the holy water you need to save your brother is very easy to miss.
IF YOU SIDE WITH ANNETTE AND COMPANY: Surprise! They’re Daedra worshippers who were after the sword in order to ruin its Aedric blessing! Refusing to hand the sword to Talvor will mean being forced to kill him, and as soon as you do, the Aedra will start destroying the temple you’re in. You’re forced to run for the exit at top speed, forsaking any other treasure you haven’t picked up yet, in order to get out alive, and even if you did get the holy water for your brother, the Aedra strip away its blessing and he dies anyway. However, this is the only way to get the sword for yourself, and you get Annette and whoever else in her party survived as followers (which may be none of them) and a permanent bed and chest at their camp.
IF YOU SIDE WITH ANNETTE AND THEN BETRAY HER: Needless to say, when you hand the sword to Talvor, Annette and company become enraged and attack, and you’ll have to kill them all. Even though you killed the Daedra worshippers, the Aedra will destroy the temple anyway because you killed Tamar, but if you don’t get to the main exit in time, Talvor knows an alternate route that buys you more time (you can still get killed if you dawdle, but you might have a chance to pick up a treasure or two if you’re fast). Once you get outside, it turns out Talvor is one of the very last Blades agents that still report to the Emperor directly. He hands the sword to the Emperor (I don’t know what happens if you already killed the Emperor), and you get a rich reward including a different unique weapon and Talvor as a follower. Whether your brother lives or dies depends on whether you got the holy water or not.
IF YOU SIDE WITH TAMAR: Near the shrine, which Tamar will lead you right to, you run into a couple Dunmer adventurers who are only there out of greed. After you retrieve the holy water, they do something to piss off the Aedra, and the main body of the temple collapses, taking them with it. You and Tamar still have to do some fast running to escape, but the entryway where Talvor is waiting for you remains intact. You get all of Talvor’s rewards, plus Tamar as a follower and a marriage candidate, and since you’re required to get the holy water in this ending, your brother survives.
Anyway I wish I had literally any modding skills
