9 November - Salta to Buenos Aires; Buenos Aires to Bariloche

With a few hours to kill before our flight(s) and a malaise settling over us after the U.S. election result, we decided to head out into Salta to take in a few sights. The main square is impressive, with an imposing municipal building and grand waterfalls and statues. Not as quaint as beautiful as our favourite in Arequipa, Peru, but impressive nonetheless. We searched the shops for a "Los Pumas" rugby shirt for Olli but to no avail. It was all Argentina football shirts or some very questionable fashions for the ladies. Er, no thanks. A quick lunch and then we jumped into a taxi to the smallest airport known to man. I think it may even be smaller than Norwich airport, and that is saying something. There wasn't anything past security. And I genuinely mean anything. Not a shop selling water, not even a vending machine. Chances of there being a one world lounge immediately quashed. Gutted. Things didn't improve during our 2.5hr layover in Buenos Aires either. Too short to make it into the city, we had to use the time buying dinner in the awful food court. Argh! We vowed that Buenos Aires would make it on to our itinerary when we return to South America on our next trip... We didn't get to Bariloche until 11pm but by some wonderful miracle, our baggage made it all the way with us, we managed to split the cost of the taxi into town with a random Polish dude and our hotel check in was quick and painless. We flopped into bed... Patagonia, we have arrived!
