For the LGBTQ+ kids out there (and you lot who are questioning)
Hi there! I’m a slightly older LGBTQ+ kid and I’ll help ya whenever I can. Need advice? I give it (it’s probably not a gem of advice, but it’s free). Need help with your questioning journey? I’ll try and see if I know of any labels that may suit you. Need to vent? Go ahead. Just drop me an ask and I’ll get back to you when I can.
To start up, here are some resources for you lot:
MENTAL HEALTH:
https://www.thetrevorproject.org/ - LGBTQ+ mental health.
https://www.7cups.com/ - general mental health. Mainly text-based chat for those of you who are anxious about speaking.
QUESTIONING:
https://lgbta.wikia.org/wiki/LGBTA_Wiki - good place to find different identities or research those you’ve come across. It’s invaluable.
http://www.pronouns.failedslacker.com/ - test names and/or pronouns - includes plenty of presets and allows you to set your own easily. Offers both a generic pronoun test and inserts your pronouns into passages of literature (with appropriate cws)
https://asteine8.github.io/projects/pronoun-dressing-room/dressing-room/index.html - another one! all generic testing. does not have presets, enter them yourself.
I’ve also found there are plenty of LGBTQ+ forums on Reddit that are either cool for serious discussion or memes. me_irlgbt is a good place to start. Word of warning - r/lesbians isn’t a sub for lesbians. go to r/actuallesbians instead, please.
