Tankies
I don't get why tankies defend the PRC and USSR. Okay, so you hate oppression in capitalism, so why not hate it in state capitalism???
"Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." - Sir John Dalberg-Acton
This is not a theoretical observation. Look at cops, politicians, rulers, CEOs... once they get a taste for the stuff they tend to look out for their own interests. (Plus, power tends to attract the worst sort of people anyway!) It's politicians promising one thing but withholding it once they're in power.
And this is because they have power. A constituency cannot vote them out until next election, and so they have free rein.
So, why not cut out the middleman? Why not make sure that no one has a chance to get into power, to be in a position to siphon resources toward themselves at the expense of those who need it more? This is why I believe in anarchy.
The places where communism works in practice have been smaller communities. And I get that. It is easier to care when you're confronted with neighbours who need help rather than faceless strangers. So make it all neighbours. Many communes, each interlinked, with structures of direct democracy. A Scientist's Commune. Intra-Commune services, like schools and hospitals. People vote for commune issues, commune region issues and worldwide issues, directly. It's extremely feasible with the Internet.
Imagine a world, even in this society, where internet voting is a thing. No more voter suppression. No more 'no polling stations near me.'
Just log on, input your credentials, vote, and log off.
And who says we need to do one job, all the time? Humans aren't built for that. We evolved to hunt and gather and craft and farm and fish and build and mine and socialise and keep peace and cooperate. We evolved for many jobs. Hobbies, if they turn to jobs, can become boring. So why not have community hobbies? You garden for an hour in the farm, and then decide to pack up and sew some buttons, or tutor some kids, or spin some wool.
