hello :))) VHS Christmas Carols is a Starkid musical: 80s inspired retellings of 3 Christmas stories– Gift of The Magi, The Little Matchstick Girl, and A Christmas Carol!
there's an omniscient narrator in the form of the piano player (clark baxtresser) (who also wrote the show) and another onstage instrumentalist (meredith stepien) (who plays jacob marley), and it's very lighthearted but also very real and it does make me cry sometimes when i watch it :) most of the costumes are inspired by real life 80s trends; off the top of my head, Christmas Present is Wham!, Christmas Past is Jazzercise (i believe she's inspired by Olivia Newton-John?) and The Little Matchstick Girl is Cyndi Lauper!
they have their 2021 live released for free on youtube– just A Christmas Carol, not with the first act, and some of the 2024 songs posted on their Youtube as well! I've attached

the order is important for a couple things– mainly, changing the broadcast leads to some plotholes, like Elliot telling Hardison about his high school girlfriend in the Wedding Job when Hardison had met her 4 episodes prior, and generally Nate's arc makes way more sense in the intended order of release, in regards to his alcoholism and bonding with the team.
notably, on some services that did fix this order of the first season, the order of season five got a little flip-flopped– not half so bad as this debacle, but episode 5.09 (The Rundown Job) and 5.10 (The Frame-Up Job) are switched! this offers just a pinch of confusion as well in terms of plot (they reference the rundown job in the frame up job, so it can get a bit confusing, but these are passing references and the episodes have 2 separate casts so it is. less bad than 9 episodes getting flipflopped around)

this question is difficult for me, mainly because i am. not cut out for public speaking or giving explanations haha. i’ve given tutorials on fic tagging is the first thing that comes to mind, to be entirely honest! i could also give a ted talk about the solisian government :)

they’re usually one of the hosts for the restaurant, and in terms of the workload they prefer being in kitchen than being a server– but being a server is more helpful for learning about people
i mean, to be honest, it was watching Celestial Spear and the celestial spear talkback. there really is something so compelling to me about these guys who share their whole lives with each other and have pack bonded for LIFE out of like. not great scenarios! and also sometimes there is a dwarf with a box to stand on to kiss tall girls and their detective partner is a tall girl looking to be kissed and then there is their orc #theirorc who they clamber all over and who supports them trying new things :)
What are your favorite things about the ship?
They're a goddamned bonded pair of three and they're going to SHOW IT. their dynamic as a group is so distinct in that they're ribbing each other a little, but they've got each other's backs ride or die about it! rosé manages the money, and york lets grendan experiment, and they let rosé have a family and they are all so there for each other even as they have a silly time!
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
ohhhhh a good question. i don't know what opinions are popular or unpopular in this fandom! one of my headcanons is that when they go out for drinks, york is the functional one in getting them into a vehicle/getting his partners a way home, somehow. he might get lost for three days. they're waking up at home in the apartment with water and advil on the bedside table. not really an opinion more of a headcanon? idk

it was SO GOOD i'm going inSANE the lil extra frames of the tectives are ADORABLE and i have the piggyback stack as one of my phone homescreens now; julia's character design is everything as always and i'm SO INTRIGUED by what the fiasco at the art center could be
midnight alley is an AMAZING setting; it feels lived in and like. an actual city. there are people being friends and people being supported and it does remind me of The City That Never Sleeps. it's wonderful.
also i like to scroll through comments while watching episodes too and seeing all the theories on Jane Colson– my favorite personally is that it's a young Jancy (Jan. C.!), but there's also theories down in the comments that she's the the old woman, or the silent cop, and just. i'm so delighted i love this show!! asdklhfj!!

80k of fig and gorgug being thrust into a disappearance plot and an imbalanced government and SUPERPOWERS ! most of the bad kids have superpowers!! there's some figayda in there and a little bit of kidnapping and it's like a little action movie! to me.

fig, as much as she people-pleases, is a fighter. she's loud and she's brass, and, as gorgug has pointed out, it's never just glitter. she puts herself into everything she does.
she doesn't need her own face to do it, though.

Up until she learns she has superpowers, Fig is having the most mediocre day she's ever lived.
It’s wet out, and Gorgug’s van is broken down, so she has to walk home from work, and her umbrella’s got a hole poked in it from when she accidentally jabbed it with her horn, so even though it should be keeping her dry, by the time she reaches the apartment, her hair is essentially plastered to her head.
But Gorgug’s home, sitting at the counter and fiddling with some metal thing that Fig can’t quite see. The antique shop he works at is much closer to their apartment than Fig’s coffee shop, and she really shouldn’t be as jealous as she is that his walk didn’t soak him. The van being broken is a work in progress. As she towels herself off as best she can, she squints at what he’s doing– it looks like some sort of car part, but she really can’t see.
“Hey!” she chirps, swinging around the counter to face him. “What’re you doing? Whatcha making?” He looks up at her, eyes wide and focused, and she pokes at the metal in his hands.
“The engine exploded, Fig. I’ve, um– we need a new engine.”
