One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn is that you can’t save someone from themselves. What you do and say can only help if they allow you to do and say those things, and even then it might not matter how much you love someone, or how unconditionally, or what you are willing to do for them. Things are going to fuck up, people will hurt themselves or those around them, and all you can do is try to hold on. Find the strength in yourself to recognize that your love won’t solve everything, but still be there for that person. Just in case. Because the fact that love won’t heal everything doesn’t make it any less important.
It will cost you something. If you’re willing to pay. And even then, you aren’t guaranteed happiness, or even satisfaction.
