So I started musing about a Puzzleshipping AU where Yuugi & Atem are like Link and Midna from Zelda Twilight Princess? Because that’s the farthest I could imagine ever going with the dark/cruel Atem concept, and being into it?
Buuuut I quickly realized that this AU is silly, because it IS puzzleshipping already.
Cursed royalty tagteams with a partner they (eventually) idolize, goes on a bunch of adventures that link up to one ultimate goal, and then they take down a world ending evil that eventually morphs into a great monster for a final showdown.
Then they have a ‘can never meet again’ parting that shatters my heart and leaves it a mess for years to come.
…add in some amnesia and card games, and you have YGO.
This story is already written and angsty enough without me touching it!!
…But I still want to claim if and call it The Twilight Pharaoh, even if it never exists.
Because that name is killer.
