Look at "Marshmallon"'s smile! This pink marshmallow has the friendliest demeanor you've ever seen! But don't be fooled. Foes who scrap with this 'lil guy quickly learn it has more of a bite to it than you'd expect!
Quick note: at the end of this arc, Yugi and Dark Yugi build two decks out of Yugi's M&W card collection in preparation for their final duel. It's clearly shown in chapter 338 that all cards involved in this arc belong to Yugi himself, so I'll be covering every card that both characters use in this arc.
This is the first monster we see Yugi summon in this arc. Throughout the manga we see that he prefers to use funny 'lil guys no matter what game he plays. Starting with "Marshmallon", Yugi proves that his latest small fry are some of his most capable monsters yet!
The original Japanese version of this card's text states that "This card can only be attacked by magic and special abilities". The word 'magic' here covers a much wider range of game mechanics than you might think, the same way it does for Kaiba's card "Dragon's Ruler: Lord of Dragons".
Effectively, this card is very similar to that one, except where "Dragon's Ruler: Lord of Dragons" makes all on-field Dragon-type monsters immune to Magic Cards, Trap Cards with magical effects, and magical attacks, "Marshmallon" can instead ONLY be killed by those things, and not by normal attacks (or, apparently, elemental attacks for that matter). In both instances, all of these different aspects are classified under the one phrase 'magic'!
My revision (second image above) brought this card in line with my other fixes regarding Trap Cards with magical effects. Also, in my initial text I originally covered 'Magician attacks' and 'magical attacks' as two distinct things. At the time, I was about 98% sure that the latter category included the former, but just in case I was wrong I wrote them out separately. Since then, I've determined that, yes, all "Magician"'s attacks are magical attacks by default.
In fact, I owe my initial understanding of the manga-exclusive 'magical attack' mechanic to this card, "Destruction Dragon Gandora", and the unreleased card "Magic Barrier". Without them, I never would have figured the full capabilities of Yugi's signature "Black Magician" card!
Don't forget about "Marshmallon"'s favorite accessory! Check out that Magic Card under the jump!
