I keep meaning to ask to help flesh out my own pages in the hexDex; do you view spells derived from Artifact cards to be ways of enchanting objects or do you view them as an enchantment that can be applied to animate things?
I personally (and have a draft of an article on my approach) prefer the former but I wanted to copy your notes see your thoughts on the subject.
If it's a long answer you can just ping me on discord when you have the time
Hey @kaosmage, thanks for letting me know that this anon was you!
Hm, I tend to use Artifacts to represent tools that I need representations for. Usually it's in someone else's spell but it doesn't require the usage of the actual tool and related more to the symbolism of it. (Which I honestly still don't understand because I'm not Wiccan so a lot of it is meaningless to me.)
I think that a lot of it is enchanting particular objects for specific purposes along the lines of the Artifact used. For instance, a Sol Ring could be a ring that's enchanted to help with energy storage and channeling. Or a Quick-Draw Dagger could be a protective enchantment for something to carry with you (in Missouri, it could be a literal knife if the blade is under 4 inches [last time I checked, anyway] but elsewhere it could be something else).
Artifact Creatures would be a whole other ball game, though. I'd consider those more Creature than Artifact.
Hopefully these notes will be useful for you to copy are entertaining and give ya something to think about!
