vastness and intimacy
The galaxy spills across the night,
a river of forgotten time,
flowing where no map can follow.

Stillness at Winkworth
I ended up watching this Egyptian goose for much longer than I expected. It was completely absorbed in pulling at the grasses along the edge of the lake, stopping every now and then to lift its head before carrying on exactly where it had left off.
There’s something oddly compelling about watching an animal with nowhere else to be. No performance. No urgency. Just the quiet repetition of doing what it came there to do.
I took the photograph, but I remember the watching just as much.
Observing
'his final farewell' -- just an observation.
Circles of light in frozen air, brief infinities drawn by unsteady hands.
