i'm dying like do ppl think those involved would just let someone make it up as they go along? do they not realize how much is planned in advance, how many story meetings there are with how many different people before executive decisions are made??? i just read thru the whole TLJ artbook last night and half of the text is about how many fucking meetings rian had w/ ppl whose entire jobs are Deciding What is Allowed to be Star Wars Canon
there was a quote from rian last year where he talked about how each director of the trilogy has artistic freedom to take the story where they want it to go and i think people completely misinterpreted that not understanding that, in circumstances like this, yes, the creator does have artistic freedom and the way that looks is the director (or author because it works the same way for the star wars books) comes up with the full story and then gets it okayed by the powers that be and works with the story group to make sure that it works. Like of course they’re all working together. it’s exactly how taika waititi made thor: ragnarok so very his but it still totally lined up with the rest of the MCU in terms of story. like.

sry abt this person bringing my comment onto your post, it wasn't a reply to your post but a reply to someone who was genuinely mistaking HCs as things "the devs confirmed" which i just wanted to clear up—cuz if anything i don't think we should take credit for specific types of representation that we didn't actually do consciously, i hope that makes sense! all of us on the creative team are striving to do better in that regard.
