How it’s going:
A baby quilt that was part of an order for a work friend. She ordered a full size for herself and baby quilts for her new twin granddaughters.
It’s much bigger than I hoped, but I’m very pleased with the outcome. Now to finish the other baby’s quilt before delivery date!

Started this quilt about two years ago… And just recently finished piecing it, then basted and started quilting!
I’m quilting by hand—because I dislike quilting with my sewing machine—using thick pearl thread and bigger stitches. This makes it go a little faster.
I also recently stopped using a quilting frame and it’s made it soooo much easier to knock out a ton of work all at once. I’m hoping this one will be ready in about a month for when it gets really chilly at night so it’ll keep me warm all winter!
This Quilt has been a struggle. I bought most of the fabric four years ago, when I didn’t know what a 1/4 in seam was, and getting any corner to match was a goddamn nightmare. I almost threw everything out, but I ripped all of the seams and was left with so fucking many 2.5 in squares that weren’t cut very well, and piecing this fucker back together was also a goddamn nightmare. I made two trips to the Quilt shop for more fabric, changed patterns at least three times. And spent a lot of time rearranging the order of the blocks before I settled on this scrappy -and might I say adorable - Halloween quilt.
I threw a couple of borders on it to try and use as much of my Halloween scraps as possible, and I sewed on the binding very sloppily. I just wanted to get it finished before Halloween, and despite this post date, I did! The ladies at the quilt shop let me help with the quilting, and I felt like a little kid helping mom in the kitchen.
Because of the nature of the beast (the bad cutting, the sloppy piecing, and my overall haste to finish) there are a few tucks around the borders. Did you know you’re supposed to measure the borders, not just sew on the strips and cut where it ends? Measuring keeps it Square. Slapping borders on gives you tucks. I’m still learning so much, but I’m having a good time.
Memorial Quilt and Bear Status
I usually don't share things that aren't writing or fanart here so this may be weird but I want to share with you some of my other hobbies!
I love to sew and the recent project I've taken on is a memorial quilt for a cousin who lost her husband in '24. I miss him very much and know that she misses him even more.
When she brought up the idea of a memory quilt, I jumped in! I vehemently offered to make it and although she hates to ask for help, I could tell that this would mean a lot to her.
She'll have him with her at all time this way.
In the meantime, I made her a bear from scrap fabric from his favorite, most memorable shirts. While I work on the quilt, I think he should help her cope until the big reveal
Now, I'm working on his memorial quilt. It will include things like his favorite graphic t-shirts as well as his most well-worn buttoned-ups that my cousin feels embody his memory,
I plan to cut the printed image/text from the graphic tees and then frame it with pieces of his more formal shirts with their patterns and little embellishments. I have all 'framed shirts' done and am cutting the filler pieces.
And you know me, I love to make things hard.
I'm thinking of a brick pattern to fill the gaps and using this nice blue my cousin picked out for the backing too. Here's my pattern to plan out these bricks.
I haven't gotten any further than this and I'm starting to wonder if I'm a madwoman for doing this much but when it comes to my cousin,

(This is an older generation cousin, BTW. I don't know the exact generational terms but we know she cares for and treats my mother and I like her daughter and granddaughter)
