tiny fox baby, pattern is mini darlings set by 10x2darlings (enlarged 200%) :~) dress pattern is my own, as well as the two bloomers (green one pictured, pink one in the other post). the collars took inspiration from a very blurry russian pinterest post. she’s so soft and tiny…i think she’ll be loved in her new home !!

Took pictures of the faceup my TBL came with before sanding it off ! It wasn’t until I started that I realized this is exactly how I did my makeup as a teenager lol. “Raw Sienna” from ABH’s Modern Renaissance palette + the original “Lolita” shade of KVD’s liquid lipsticks + some Too Faced blush from the Peach collection OTL.

I am stepping back from quilting and applique this year, and having something else to fall back on has really saved my mind. Before I design my own patterns I wanted to see what’s presently on the market…this pattern honestly was awful to work with, but the end result is okay. I can’t wait to crack open a pattern of my own ψ(｀∇´)ψ

I finally succeeded in my hair pulling pursuit of making an accurately shaped dress form for my beautiful yet bootleg Smart Doll :,) It took so many tries. Replicating her bust and hip contours was predictably the hardest part, but going into it I underestimated the situation. Ultimately, however, the final form (pencil) only varied from my original measurements (black one) by a little bit. In the draping pictures, the areas where I utilizing thread/needle sculpting to cinch in/shape are visible…this is how I accounted for the difference. The only un-tweakable variance is the distance from BP to waist + waist to hip, so in essence its torso is a little short. *Mari Ohara voice* I’m So HAPPYYYYY!!

Whenever I've been waiting for something to download/print, I've been making colorwork charts for the witch runes in Puella Magi Madoka Magica (based on the modern rune graphics on the Wiki). Really just a brain exercise with pixels, but I tried to be as consistent as possible. Each chart is 35 stitches/pixels tall, generally 35 stitches/pixels wide with some exceptions. ／人◕‿‿◕人＼

Progress pictures of my attempts at making a custom dress form for my new doll. I’m honestly really struggling with this project. I see so many beautiful clothes for similar dolls, and want to try making my own patterns. Struggling with this task makes me feel really bad about my skills lol. When I tried to make my own bodice block I struggled there, too.

haven’t washed my hair in 3 days, was supposed to after i finished working on drafting this pattern. alas, it’s now midnight, and the final pattern test was a dumpster fire. corduroy fuzzies everywhere, the 3 distinct cowlicks in my bangs are similarly everywhere. i may or may not be getting sick _(´ཀ`」 ∠)_ to live and die in l.a.

i dare a sewing pattern company/designer to live on the wild side, took a leap, go against the tide, and design something that isn’t “for comfort…w/ pockets!”

i have no idea how relatable this opinion is, but most of it -to me- seems cheap in both creativity and effort. i love affordable things, but the pressure to churn out products at competitive prices (competing with AI, i see it everywhere on etsy) sort of neuters designers’ incentive to make something different. the rise of tiktok “virality” and the fact that makers have engagement incentive with making popular trending hashtaggable designs feed into this.

on one hand (the hand that makes), it’s extremely annoying to me. i don’t care what tiktok or instagram wants to make- i hate linen, elastic inserts, and anything baggy. i am, autistically, extremely picky about clothing (in nearly every photo of me going out i am wearing the same 2-3 outfits). on the other (the hand that designs), i understand completely why this is. i want a world where designers are able to make real money for what they share. when artists are fed, they have freedom to innovate/explore. when you think of it economically, the time designers spend drafting patterns is time they cannot spend otherwise generating income (things that may be more lucrative). for example, say in exchange for them working on a pattern/their craft, they forgo picking up an extra shift. one would hope that the revenue they receive for that finished pattern would be at the very least equal to that foregone opportunity. otherwise, it turns into a passion that chips away at their own material life.
