QuiltCon 2018: I am really excited to share that I will have two quilts at the QuiltCon 2018 show coming up this February in Pasadena, California!
These are the two submissions I made back at the end of November. The photos above are the actual photos I submitted (you were required to submit one overall shot, and one detail shot).
Here are the descriptions I provided for each. I kept them short:
Art Deco Sampler:
The idea for this quilt was inspired by Art Deco architecture in downtown Ottawa. I thought of it as a technique sampler, as the design uses a combination of conventional (curves and strips) and foundation paper piecing.
This quilt appeared in Issue 49 of Love Patchwork and Quilting. Kona Cottons provided by Robert Kaufman Fabrics.

Cluster (Greenery):
This quilt was improvisationally pieced from my scraps in solid fabrics, in shades of green, white and grey. I challenged myself to use scraps in the shapes I found them in, rather than trimming or cutting scraps to fit - so ended up with several triangular pieces.
I made this mini quilt for the "Greenery - 2017 Pantone Color of the Year Challenge" hosted by Sarah Sharp and Rebecca Bryan.
I posted more about the Greenery quilt back in June when I was making it.
A few people have commented that these two quilts are really different - and they are! They kind of represent different ends of the spectrum in terms of the quilts I’ve made: from graphic and designed, to scrappy and improv. I feel really honoured to have these quilts selected for the show!
