1st attempt at sawtooth star on left, using 3” squares. To mimic square in a square, all pieced. Sewn yesterday.

2nd attempt on right, top, using 2.5” blocks, 2.5”x 4” rectangles for the flying geese base and a 4”x4” center square. Sewn today.

I really thought flying geese would be harder, but it’s not so bad when you use the rectangle x square piece, then trim.

Next I’ll do an actual square in a square for the center block. I also want to try pinwheels as the center.

‪Attempted to make some SeeSaw Blocks courtesy of the tutorials from Art Gallery Fabrics. It was ALMOST perfect until I fashioned the blocks together. Whoops. At the least I got enough of the same fabrics to try again and this time cut out the exact pieces. 😋‬

This quilt block is just gorgeous and so easy to make following our tutorial. We have simplified how this is done so you will be able to tackle this one easily.

It will give you an idea on how this pattern is constructed.  The Log Cabin block is an excellent block for beginners because it goes together so easily. But it's fabulous for the more experienced quilter who wants to play with colour and design.
