The previous post does not include people for whom it is genuinely hard and who genuinely apologize and fix it when they mess up. My professor this semester is one of the kindest most generous professors I have ever had, and she messes up mine and a couple other people's pronouns. She has said that it is hard for her, yes, but not as an excuse but an explaination. Then she proactively suggested that, when she messes up, I have a hand signal that lets her know she messed up so she can correct herself. I believe that she really wants to get it right and respect all her students and make the space safe for us, also because she shows that in a multitude of other ways as well.
