Call me crazy but it's suuuper telling to me that when Isabelle asks Quinn, "Did you steal it?" in reference to the grandiose necklace he offers her, Quinn smiles. Laughs. He does so like it's them reminiscing on the past; like he's visiting fond memories, whereas Isabelle is being cynical / tongue-in-cheek. I'm almost certain that this little sleazeball taught Isabelle all she knows about pickpocketing and introduced her to drugs and whatnot. I'm not saying Isabelle had no culpability, she made the choice to go through with it knowing stealing was wrong and it'd hurt people and their families, but I don't think she'd have had the means to do it without this man wrecking her life first. Lily ( her sister ) describes her as someone who was "always good to her" and who "took such good care of me after mama and papa [died]" They are not traits of somebody who was an irresponsible, selfish person who had no regard for anyone but themselves. Even though she did these bad things, she'd come home and it'd be "switched off"; she'd go back to the kind, caring person that people around her knew her to be. Quinn, in contrast, never had an off switch. That was simply how he was.

quinn was born at the height of summer in an exclusive new york private hospital, the first child of her parents' new marriage. she was planned perfectly; exactly eleven months after their wedding ceremony. she has always got on with her mother, both equally studious and stubborn. her father, on the other hand, wanted another son and has never been afraid to make that clear. the spare to the heir, if you will. his first son to his first wife is the apple of his eye. even named after him. this is where quinn's endless need for approval started. it was a stable home but she has never felt like she was enough. several digits of trust fund has made no difference.
