let's talk about him because i have THOUGHTS!! because i feel like growing up, quinn was always kinda protective of her the way he was with jack and luke because he was the oldest one so it felt like that role of responsibility was always on his shoulders

but when they get older and they start dating, it becomes way more intense than she had previously experienced. like maybe she had one or two memories of quinn kinda stepping in when some kids in her and luke's year were a bit annoying, but she is seeing a different side to it

and the way that he just is a wee huggy bear with her. he is a softie when it comes to people close to him, he doesn't hide it. but seeing the switch up, seeing the way he can shut down nosy journalists and put people in their place? it's something she has never seen him do for her before and it's overwhelming (but in a good way)

he doesn't give people a chance to even utter something disrespectful for it. whether it's journalists being pushy or fans saying stupid shit or even someone on the ice (maybe someone trying to make a comment and get under quinn's skin?? saying something about her going around the brothers or being with luke first??), quinn shuts it down and it makes her go a bit 😵‍💫 because it shows how much he cares and how he feels about her and she really likes those reminders

OKAY OKAY BUT

ever since the wee hughes book club got revealed, i did have this idea of one of them dating an author but could never really decide who i wanted it to be

it's more just like a random wee universe that lives in the back of my head about the brothers being obsessed with this author who writes some series (whether it's crime or fantasy or something). and then she meets one of them and they hit it off and it becomes a whole thing. but each brother has so much potential!!

quinn: he is already the brother that is far away so the book club is something he feels very strongly about because it gives him a connection even when sometimes they are too busy to talk. and like. he is the captain. he is the older brother. he is used to being collected and in control. and then suddenly he is meeting the author of one of his favourite series and she is really pretty and he is a flustered mess and it could just be so so funny. and she ends up at a canucks game somehow and he is being a wee fangirl and the team find it hilarious the way he is so eager to win for her

jack: he is used to the stereotypes around him. he knows people only view him as a pretty boy hockey player, and he knows he also gets some slack for being the only one who never went to college. but he really does enjoy reading and he is a wee nerd with it and no one really believes him when he is talking about how hyped he is for this series coming out. and maybe reader is doing an event in new york. maybe jack goes. and maybe she knows who he is or maybe she doesn't but it doesn't stop jack from babbling away about this series like he usually does with hockey and she is so endeared. and maybe she does know who he is so she is rambling back to him about hockey and he is just like 'oh my god i think i'm in love :0'

luke: obviously we don't know but it seems like the book club is mostly jack and quinn passing wee recommendations. so there is something just so inherently funny about luke making wee jokes about his brothers being obsessed with this series and luke somehow ending up dating the author of said series. and the way jack and quinn pester her like "so can you tell us what happens next?" but then there is luke standing there, grinning away like "she actually let me read the first few chapters of the next book" just to rub it in. but also kinda sweet that maybe he isn't much of a reader but he does read her books and he is her biggest fan (even if quinn and jack try to give him shit that he isn't the biggest fan in the family)

keep seeing those ‘pretending to be asleep on the couch when my boyfriend walks in’ videos and just imagining it with quinn x luke’s bff!reader

except it’s at the lakehouse and luke is two seconds away from jumping on her to wake her up but quinn is literally YANKING him back by the scruff of the neck and kicking everyone out of the living room so she can keep sleeping. and if they don’t, he’s fully prepared to carry her back to the bedroom so she can peacefully sleep

meanwhile, she cracks up after a few minutes and she’s just all endeared about how sweet he was whilst luke is gagging in the corner

(NOT A WRITING REQUEST!) Just started thinking abt quinn and luke bsf!reader during the Olympics :( Ik she's supporting him and jack so bad rn (idk if she would be in Italy or in Jersey with Luke)

NOOOO WAIT because she would be conflicted about it :( and both boys are probably telling her to do whichever she wants and it’s not helping the situation

like quinn making it to the olympics is HUGE and of course she wants to support him and be there for him. but also luke is literally all alone? everyone else is going out to support him or his friends are on holiday for the break so he’s stuck alone in jersey? but then there’s also the whole thing with it being valentine’s day as well…

she definitely tries to drag jack into the situation to help her choose but he just laughs in her face and tells her there’s no way he’s getting involved😭

I actually don’t even know which one she would choose tbh. because as much as she loves quinn and wants to support him, her and luke have basically been best friends for literal years and I can’t imagine she would enjoy the idea of him being the only one left out

if she did stay in new jersey with him, could very much see a cute wee scene between her and luke where he tells her that she’s missing out and she’s just grinning like, “nah, there’s always the next winter olympics when the three of you will be playing together” because she is SURE of her boys (+jack I guess)🙂‍↕️

quinn who’s a little mean but mostly just frustrated with the season and how everything has turned out. and who just needs to get out of his head, to feel like he’s good at something because this season has left him feeling like he’s grasping onto the previous season’s achievements to prove he’s a good captain

quinn who just has you crumbling beneath him because it feels so good to know that he can make you whine and beg and moan like that. to watch how good you take everything and are so responsive and so sweet even when he’s a little mean

quinn who just feels the tension leave his body when you’re lying on his chest, just intertwining your hands together and pressing a wee kiss to the back of his hand and murmuring a wee “proud of you”

like they have obviously been together for a while but they are private people!! they aren't necessarily posting on insta or anything!! and with reader still busy with college and quinn in vancouver, no one really suspects anything anyways

but then quinn is showing up to the gala with reader and they are all dolled up and quinn can't stop smiling the whole night. and it is a big step and there's definitely gonna be people talking, but he is just focusing on the fact that he gets to have her beside him all night and just act like a normal couple for once. like they aren't luke's older brother and luke's best friend, they are there as a couple and it's sweet!!

also luke would definitely see the photos all over social media and be SO dramatic about it in the groupchat
