Writemas - Day 4

Still at this, even if it's a few days behind.

Wanted to add the Narrative Prompts, but the Dialogue Prompts alone worked perfectly for a new pair of characters who came up in a short story I wrote for an anthology.

(I discovered it was them by her second-to-last dialogue. Peak Quisqueya 😂)

Short story after the cut.

Words: 224.

“I'm either going to regret this, or I'll love you for it.”

“Can’t you do both?”

Santiago looked at her, a bewildered glint in his eyes.

“How much you will love me can be directly proportional to how much you will regret it,” Quisqueya explained. “They don’t necessarily have to cancel each other out.”

He blinked at her approach, and she smiled at him.

Quisqueya let go of the strap, bringing her hands behind him to take the belt back from the buckle, her eyes up on his.

“You're standing too close there,” Santiago whispered.

“Someone has to help you,” her smile widened, and she looped the belt around his waist again.

He followed her hands. “I’m not so sure about this outfit anymore.”

She chuckled, looking down to buckle the belt, letting it hang down on his hips. “There's an occasion for clothes like these, and that occasion is now.”

“And you would know this because…?”

“Apart from being the one dressing you?” Quisqueya raised an eyebrow. She looked up at his frown and laughed. “Exactly. But if you don’t like how I’m dressing you…” she rested her hands on his sides, leaning into his chest. “I can undress you,” she whispered.

Santiago blinked, blushed, and frowned. “Stop playing around!”

She laughed, stretching on her toes to kiss his chin. “Never,” she hummed.

Of course not, you silly QuiQui. ☺️

Last night someone asked me what my sexual orientation is, in the context of trying to understand why I haven't found love yet. He thinks that may be I need to know/decide who I am first before I can find love. This was my answer:

"I dunno. Does it matter (referring ti my sexual orientation)? It may be a factor, yes. But you see, when I fall in love, I fall in love with the person. With character. With passion. With that person's joy and pains. With how that person takes on life. With how that person makes me happy. And I have learned over the years that these things are genderless."

If I am to talk with you QuiQui, I would've said the same thing. That's why big sisters are the best. 😂

I'm mostly a sucker for passion though. It is what I find most attractive. 😁
