I have a whumpee that gets caught in a storm and they're struck by lightning. A teammate is nearby and they drag them to shelter. I want the whumpee to get one of those lichtenburg scars, but I only know what they look like healed - do you have any idea of what it would look like right after the incident? Also, is it plausible for the whumpee to not have any permanent damage afterward (magic exists here so I could probably fix that)? What would the recovery process look like?
A patient who goes to the ER and has a normal EKG, minor symptoms, and an uneventful observation period might be walking out in just a few hours, but because your whumpee’s strike was severe enough to be burned, they may experience other characteristic symptoms too.
Some of the most common long-term effects of lightning strikes are persistent neurological symptoms, including muscle weakness, sensory loss, spinal cord weakness, and difficulty thinking and concentrating. In a bad scenario, it could take six or seven months to recovery, in a worst case scenario it could be permanent. But you do have magic!
As for the scar, one man who got struck by lightning didn’t notice any pain or change until about an hour later, when it started to feel sore and blisters appeared. It slowly faded from red to pink over the course of a month.
