Well, the High-End Nomu were cool. I wish we could have seen more of them. Unfortunately, the heroes managed to stop this plot before it got off the ground. Who knows how powerful they would have been?
The Near-High-End Nomu are kind of the same, they’re just weaker, existing for the heroes to tear into fatally or just to distract the heroes. Basically, they act like villains who have simply been Nomu-ized, so there's nothing else to say, but they exist. They have neat designs.
The Chainsaw Nomu was cool. Despite his limited appearance, he strangely was part of the Vanguard Action Squad. Though, he doesn’t last like at all, since he dies. Nothing else to really say.
Altered Timeline: My Hero Academia Without All For One's Early Influence
The early demise of All For One (AFO) would send seismic waves through the My Hero Academia universe, fundamentally reshaping the narrative and leading to a vastly different finale. AFO wasn't just a powerful villain; he was the puppet master, the strategist, and the driving force behind Tomura Shigaraki's terrifying evolution. Without his guiding hand, the League of Villains, and indeed hero society, would navigate a timeline fraught with unpredictable changes.
Let's explore how key events would likely unfold:
1. The Forest Training Camp Arc & Bakugo's Kidnapping
Original Event: The Vanguard Action Squad (VAS), under Shigaraki's command (but with AFO's strategic oversight), targeted Bakugo specifically to break him and convert him to villainy. AFO saw Bakugo's potential and wanted to corrupt him.
Altered Scenario: Without AFO's specific directive and strategic insight, the VAS might still attack the training camp for general chaos or to capture powerful Quirks, but the singular focus on Bakugo would be absent or significantly diminished. Shigaraki, in his earlier, more petulant state, might not have the foresight to identify Bakugo as a crucial asset for recruitment. The attack might be less organized, more chaotic, and less successful in achieving a specific capture. If Bakugo were still captured, it would likely be opportunistic rather than a calculated move.
2. The Kamino Ward Incident
Original Event: This was the direct consequence of Bakugo's kidnapping, culminating in All Might's final battle with AFO and his forced retirement. AFO orchestrated his own capture to further Shigaraki's growth and to reveal the decay of hero society.
Altered Scenario: This arc would not happen as we know it.
No All Might Retirement: If Bakugo isn't kidnapped, or the League is too weak to hold him, there's no direct confrontation that forces All Might to expend the last of One For All. All Might would likely remain the Symbol of Peace for much longer, a towering figure who continues to deter large-scale villainy.
Shigaraki's Stagnation: Without AFO's direct intervention, encouragement, and the "push" of the Kamino defeat, Shigaraki's development would be severely hampered. He wouldn't inherit AFO's Quirks, nor would he undergo the intense emotional and physical growth spurred by AFO's guidance. He might remain a powerful, but ultimately contained, threat.
No Symbol of Peace Loss: The public's faith in heroes wouldn't be shattered by All Might's retirement, maintaining a higher level of societal stability.
3. Provisional Hero License Exam Arc
Original Event: Toga infiltrates the exam disguised as Camie, gathering information on the students.
Altered Scenario: Toga's involvement might be less directed. While her "love" for Midoriya might still drive her, the League wouldn't have a grand strategy for infiltration. She might still cause a disturbance, but without a clear objective from a superior, her actions might be more isolated and less impactful on the overall plot.
4. Shie Hassaikai Arc (Overhaul Arc)
Original Event: The League of Villains (under AFO's indirect instruction to Shigaraki) reluctantly allied with Overhaul, only to betray him at the end, allowing Shigaraki to take his arms and his Quirk-destroying bullets. This was a crucial step in Shigaraki's power acquisition and growth.
Altered Scenario: The League would likely never engage with Overhaul. AFO's strategic mind saw the potential in Overhaul's research and the Quirk-destroying bullets, and he pushed Shigaraki to interact with him. Without AFO's foresight, Shigaraki would see Overhaul as just another rival.
No Quirk-Destroying Bullets for the League: This means the League wouldn't gain access to this devastating weapon, severely limiting their future offensive capabilities against heroes.
Magne and Compress's Fates: Magne's death and Mr. Compress's arm loss were direct consequences of the League's interaction with Overhaul. These events would likely be averted, preserving Magne's life and Compress's full physical capabilities.
Overhaul's Continued Threat: Overhaul and the Shie Hassaikai might continue to operate as a major Yakuza threat, potentially becoming a primary antagonist for the heroes in a different capacity.
5. Meta Liberation Army Arc & Paranormal Liberation Front (PLF) Formation
Original Event: This arc was pivotal for Shigaraki's "awakening" and the merger of the League with the MLA, forming the massive PLF. AFO's influence, through Garaki's enhancements and the long-term plan, was crucial to this.
Altered Scenario: This arc would be drastically different, if it happens at all.
No Shigaraki Awakening: Shigaraki's full Decay awakening was tied to his past trauma and AFO's manipulations. Without AFO pushing him and Garaki's experiments, this power-up might never occur, or would be significantly delayed and less potent.
No PLF: The merger was facilitated by AFO's long-term planning and the MLA's recognition of Shigaraki's potential (which AFO cultivated). Without AFO, the League would be a much smaller, less organized group, and the MLA would likely see them as insignificant. The two organizations would remain separate, or the MLA might simply crush the League.
No Gigantomachia: Gigantomachia was AFO's loyal servant, tasked with finding and testing Shigaraki. Without AFO, Gigantomachia would remain dormant or simply be a wild, untamed force, never becoming a weapon for the League.
6. Paranormal Liberation War Arc
Original Event: A massive, devastating war between the heroes and the PLF, leading to widespread destruction, hero casualties, and Shigaraki becoming a global threat.
Altered Scenario: This war would not happen. Without the PLF's formation and Shigaraki's immense power, the heroes would never face such a unified, overwhelming villain force. The threat level would remain contained to smaller, more manageable villain groups.
7. Tartarus Breakout
Original Event: AFO orchestrated his own breakout from Tartarus, freeing many dangerous villains, including Muscular and Moonfish, and further destabilizing society.
Altered Scenario: No Tartarus Breakout. AFO was the mastermind. Without him, the prison would remain secure, keeping its most dangerous inmates locked away. This means villains like Muscular and Moonfish would not return to cause further havoc.
8. The "Finale"
With AFO out of the picture early, the "finale" of My Hero Academia would be fundamentally transformed:
A Different Main Antagonist: Shigaraki, without AFO's influence, would likely not become the apocalyptic threat he is in the canon. He might be defeated much earlier, or remain a persistent but contained villain. The final antagonist might be Overhaul (if he wasn't defeated), a new, emergent villain, or even a societal issue that takes center stage.
All Might's Continued Legacy: All Might would continue to be a pillar of hero society, potentially mentoring Deku more directly without the looming threat of AFO.
Deku's Journey: While Deku would still aim to be the greatest hero, his path would be less desperate, less burdened by the weight of One For All's legacy against AFO. His power-ups might be slower, and his struggles more internal or against different types of threats.
Less Societal Collapse: The widespread chaos, distrust in heroes, and the breakdown of society seen in the later arcs would be significantly mitigated. The world would be safer, but perhaps still grappling with underlying issues of Quirk discrimination or the nature of heroism.
Focus on Smaller-Scale Conflicts: The series might evolve into a more episodic format, focusing on various villain cells, individual hero challenges, or societal reforms, rather than a singular, escalating war against an ultimate evil.
In summary, AFO's early death would prevent the rise of the ultimate evil and the subsequent societal collapse. While heroes would still face challenges, the world of My Hero Academia would likely be a less dire, less apocalyptic place, with a finale that focuses on different themes and conflicts.
