Off the top of my head, but the sea level thing is an interesting/complex topic all by itself. Richard Campanella is a Tulane geographer whose Twitter you might want to check out. Treme was a TV show a few years back that came the closest of any media representation out there. Post Katrina, so very much immersed in the post Katrina experience.

This all sounds like very valid and interesting information, and also like it would take quite some time to consume (which isn’t your fault at all, I’m just trying to figure what I want to do for a short fic).

I probably would need a lot of help because otherwise it’s just me and a lot of Google and Wikipedia. Things I know about New Orleans:

- Below sea level making it easy to flood

- Hurricanes

- Jazz

- Mardi Gras, i.e. Catholic roots on permanent spring break

- Gumbo and seafood

- Interview with the Vampire and every other supernatural book/movie takes place there because of

- Voodoo and occult history

- Graveyards with aboveground crypts due to aforementioned flooding

- French Quarter is a Thing (what thing? Is it really a quarter of the city? Who knows, not me)

- The Rescuers???

A friend of mine and I always refer to Erik Karlsson as “the infamous Swedish vampire Erik Karlsson.” It arose out of a very silly conversation but it’s stuck for some reason. Wolf boyfriends makes me think of that.

In the context of this it would sound like hockey players, the superstitious lot they are, have a lot of suspicions about the real backstories of many of their rival players...

Hockey players and purity of soul? Does not compute, hah.

To be fair, that was my own interpretation of it. It was more of a glowing review of his superior moral character and what an exceptional human being he is for doing a list of things that most hockey teammates would do for each other, let alone most captains would do for their team.

Boxes, boxes, all the way down…

If you order the largest box available, does that mean that they have an even larger box to ship it in, and if so, why can I not buy that box? I want to order just a matryoshka doll of boxes.

I have never ordered from them. They were used as an example of something at work and I was just like “?????” and then retained that information forever.

I imagine the shipping costs would be killer (collapsed boxes get heavy fast and they’re oddly shaped and shipping companies love charging extra for weird packages) so yes you’re better off not ordering from them.

Also it would just be so embarrassingly like a “first world problems” type of reaction to purchase moving boxes online.
