First *Actual* Blog Post

I meant to start using Tumblr like an actual blog, but I got swept up in tutorials and guides and how-to’s and It Is Just Too Much. So imma just type and see how this develops over time! For this first post, I’ll just talk a little bit about myself. I’m living in Europe right now, though I’m originally from the USA -- Miami, to be specific! I don’t have any plans to go back if I don’t absolutely have to, except to get the rest of my shit from where I was living >:( That’s a long story for another time, though. I’m Black, with my Grandma on my mom’s side being Jamaican and my Grandpa on that same side being Ghanaian. My biological dad and his entire side of the family is from Antigua. Out of all these cultures Jamaican is the one I’m most familiar with, so you might start seeing me exploring these other aspects of my ancestry and asking a lot of stupid questions. Please be gentle with me lol I’m bisexual (pansexual if u wanna talk semantics but lets not) and I identify as non-binary. My assigned gender is forever a secret since I’m pretty damn androgynous right now(!!), but I am OB-FUCKING-SESSED with the feminine aesthetic. Not on me, but, like, in general. I’m gonna talk about mental illness now, specifically what I have been professionally diagnosed with and what my family and I speculate me to have, because it is EXTREMELY relevant to my life. I will never say that “I have” something if I don’t have a diagnosis, but if this subject matter makes you angry or uncomfortable I’ll be tucking it away under this here Read More. To those of you down here, hi! Autism runs in my family on my mom’s side, and she (my mom) is pretty sure that I have some form of it as well. Never been able to afford a professional screening just for shits and giggles though. I’ve been diagnosed with anxiety, which has not gotten better with medication lmao, and depression which thankfully has gotten better. I haven’t been to any kind of professional in a while but it doesn’t take a genius to see that I have extreme, CRIPPLING social anxiety. I don’t leave my room often even to talk with my family, and I haven’t been able to hold a single full conversation with a stranger in years. There’s a whole lotta baggage there so lets move on uwu. I try to stay upbeat about all this though! I talk about these things with levity because I simply have to, otherwise I’d never get anything done. I see them as things to learn and grow from, in the sense that if I can understand all the weird shit in my brain I can work out ways to work with them and increase my...I’ve been thinking of a word for ten minutes now, not “worth” or “productivity.” “Functionality” maybe? So I can get better at living lol. This last chunk turns this post into kind of a bummer, so I’ll shut up now hoho. Thank you for reading, and stick around!
