My favourite of all the above creativity- themed quotes (Image from the Buzzfeed article above) is this one, written by Vincent Van Gough in  a letter to his brother Theo.  Also translated as: ‘If you hear a voice within you saying, “You are not a painter,” then by all means paint... and that voice will be silenced’. When you are too paralysed with self doubt, procrastination and fear, what you most need to do sometimes is just make a start. All of us sometimes have to remind ourselves that we can, by actually doing. For artists, it’s an invaluable reminder. But it doesn’t just apply to art. When I find myself stuck, and getting increasingly anxious about something that needs to be done, but appears almost impossible, I remind myself of this quote and the voice grows quieter. It never fails to give me the courage to start. And once I start, the rest slowly but surely falls into place. To So, I’d like to share it with you all. And end with another favourite quote of mine from J. R. R. Tolkien: “May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out.”
