A friend of mine didn’t know about the existence of asexuality.
And i explained to her what it is. That is a spectrum. That a person can totally be asexual, or experiments sexual attraction in particular circumstances.
And she started to glow. She looked at me marveled, cause she had no idea that was a thing. She’s been struggling with her sexuality her whole life. Always feeling like she didn’t completely fit in any of the LGBT acronyms or hetero sexuality. She also had no idea about the disctintion between sexual attraction and romantic attraction.
She finally realised she may be asexual and biromantic (she’ll decide which terms fits her better, IF she wants to define herself), but i’ll never forget the look she gave me when i finished telling her about asexuality spectrum.
It seemed like she felt she wasn’t an alien anymore.
Labels matter to some people, and they can change their life for the best.
