Hi Qwille!!! BIIIIG CONGRATS on finishing Act One!!! I want to say thank you for sharing your fic with us all.

Not only has your writing been a huge inspiration for me, and encouraging me out of a years-long writer’s block—but it has also inspired me to actually engage in the DCA fandom, instead of watching from afar as I had been before. I got tumblr, made an ao3 account, and started commenting, posting, and interacting with people. It has been amazing! The internet was such a lonely place before, and my art didn’t get much recognition on other platforms. I’m very glad I ended up here, and on the GITM discord!

Question for you: How many chapters did you originally have planned/expect Act One to have? I know sometimes things end up needing more time and characters don’t always act as planned.. >_<

Ahhh thankyou very much!! I'm so happy that GITM inspired you to get more involved in the DCA fandom. I do think we are an abnormally friendly bunch all in all, and people are super welcoming to newcomers. The DCA community tends to lift eachother up a lot which is really really cool imo!

Ohhh how many chapters for act one originally... Originally I thought act one would be about 30 chapters, but that was a pipe dream. I didn't actually plan on writing Imbolc, it just appeared in chapter 11 during the dinnerparty scene and I was like, oh, wow, well, I guess this is a thing now! A lotttt of extra chapters got added after people expressed interest in the human characters/worldbuilding, to make space to tell a bit more of that part of the story! You can see when I began to get worried about chapter count because I started using less Tarot card names cause I was like, oh shit I'm going to run out of them really fast ahah. That being said, my earliest versions of act one had Ruin waking up at the end ! Ty for the ask <3 P.S Good luck and congrats on beating your writer's block!!

For the last couple of weeks I've been anonymously harassed on multiple platforms (including ones in my irl name) by people making throw away accounts. As you can imagine, this is pretty upsetting! Regretfully, this also means I will be turning off asks here for the foreseeable future.

If you want to ask me a question or chat about GITM, please use misutamojis. I will always be happy to chat/interact publicly there!

I wont be talking about this again here, as I strongly believe whoever is doing this is mostly just trying to get a reaction. I'm only writing this post so that people here know that this isn't personal, I still love this fandom and love interacting with you guys, I just need to protect my peace. Much love~ <3

A little shocked I have to say this but please don't feed my work, my writing or my art, to any AI for generative purposes or otherwise. Generative AI is theft, and innocent intentions are not an excuse. I'm not going to explain why generative AI is bad, many artists and writers have already done that much more eloquently than I ever could. Do your own research. I work professionally in art and have been deeply personally impacted by AI, and seeing AI versions of my characters is deeply upsetting.

Hiiii Qwille! Noticed your inbox was open and had to drop by~ Man I remember when I first started reading the fic on my first week of college and falling in love with the characters. I kept thinking "This person's imagination is incredible and their writing is amazing!" I remember looking up your art and adoring each design. After a month, I got over my anxiety and joined the server. I met so many people, including you, and had a blast sharing theories are writing snippets about the characters. And now, after a little over two years, we're finally at the end of Act 1. It's almost hard to believe! Congratulations and looking forward to seeing how Act 2 opens! I guarantee it'll turn out wonderful since you've poured so much passion and dedication into this world.

Now I have a question for you lovely. What were your favorite moments in Act 1 or if there are too many, what were moments that were difficult to write? This is pretty much an opening for you to give any thoughts on the Act 1 scenes. (Also I have a quick sketch to go along with this ask so dm me if you want it <3)

Raaaaah Lynz thank you so much this is so so so sweet!!! This took me a little while to reply to as every time I open my ask box I look at it and pull this face:

Goshhh my fave moments in act one? The beach scene with Elias. The first Fool POV. Harry going on his professor-mode autistic rambling about the idea of robot ghosts. The argument between Harry and Cricket after the Scythe. Soleil returning the jacket. Fool in the hotel. Gosh, just, soooo many moments, truly. I had a lot of fun! The hardest chapters to write were the Dog and Hagalaz. I got stuck on the Dog for such a long time, I hated it until the moment I did my final proof read and then I was like: wait actually this slaps. Hagalaz (the last chapter of Act One), I was so so anxious about because I was just so desperate for it to be good. There was so much riding on it, with it being the last chapter and with Nova waking up. I didn't want to let people down with the reveal. It took a long time to write because I was just putting soooo much pressure on myself! However I'm very happy with how it turned out. Other honorable mentions? The Scythe!! I was positively giddy to release a chapter that was entirely bot POV. Our first peak at Sunspot's inner world and Clip, too. There was sooo much juicy lore and sooo much happens ahhh, it was a lot of fun to write and I really enjoyed everyone's reactions to it. Such a high point! The Letter!!! I'd like to think that no one was expecting Elias POV and I enjoyed every second of writing it. Getting to reveal the nature of his Sight in this way before people had figured out what it was was incredibly satisfying. I really hope that future reveals manage to survive long enough to have more chapters like this! Imbolc!!! Auuuugh what a beast. I always knew it was going to be long, but 45k is such a disgusting length for a chapter ahahh. I'm very proud of how the pacing turned out despite this (I had to be really deliberate with the tempo of the scenes), especially considering how gigantic the cast was. Writing the Apprenticeship reveal and the introduction to Angelica... ahhh it was so much fun. I'm not in any hurry to write a chapter that is that kind of length again, though! Fingers crossed I can keep them a more manageable length in Act Two! Ty for the ask Lynz, much love <3 <3

Feeling super torn up at the moment. A long time ago, when GITM was small, I gave blanket perms for people to make NSFW content. At the time, I genuinely thought I would be fine with it. Generally I just want people to have fun with characters and I didn't want to gatekeep stuff when I can just, you know, curate my own space and not look at the content that people make that I don't like.

So that's what I've been doing for the last half a year, not looking at stuff I dont want to and I thought that that would be fine. But, I'll be real, it's eating me the fuck up. I hate the idea that people I dont know are making this stuff en masse, even when I can't see it. Just knowing it exists feels bad. And I hate that I feel this way. I don't want to be the kind of person that tells people 'no you cant do XYZ', these feelings clash hugely with how I identify myself. I wanna be live and let live. As long as they aren't hurting anyone, its fine right?

But fuck. Lately its just been giving me this constant low level anxiety. I know I wont rescind the perms- I feel like that would be super shitty- especially after so many people have put so much effort into creating this content. And I don't know if I'm still gunna feel this way in a year or whatever. If I was fine with it before (when it was just a couple of people I knew personally) shouldn't I be fine with it now? What changed? Is it possible for my feelings to be valid and for them to be unfair at the same time? I'm trying so hard not to make my feelings other people's problem.

I don't know man. This post is the classic, felt cute might delete later. I just needed to shout these thoughts into the void.
