Thought it was about time for a pinned post! My name is Qwille (they/them) I'm an artist & writer currently languishing in the DCA fandom.

This might be in vain to ask, but please don't send me asks that are mean, or cryptic. I will never answer them. I try very hard to be a force for good in this community, and use what little influence I have accrued to make things better. Please remember that I am a human being just like you.

You can find my main fanfic work on my Ao3, my focus is currently on writing Ghost in the Machine, a long-form DCA post-fire fic with multiple DCA animatronics! Any of my art that I post here will be tagged #qwilledraws. When it comes to fanart I am not super prolific! Art is my day-job so I don't do as much of it in my down-time as I used to. Just curious but I often see ships between the robots themselves, for example Misuta x Fool, are these canon?

Some of them are! There will be a lot of 'canon' ships in GITM, but not all of them are quite as allo as some of the fanart would suggest. My interest is more in character dynamics and non-sexual intimacy, so I expect that many of the relationships will lean that way. Several of the characters are foils, and will have really ramped up chemistry and very intense relationships that will make them very easy to ship together- but whether those ships will come to fruition romantically in the story is up in the air!

I can say confidently that Misool is canon, Somspot and Cosmic Joke will also probably be canon in some form. I'm hesitant to commit on paper to more than that, though I do have plenty of other things I'm thinking of including. At the end of the day, GITM is character driven. I won't be shoehorning in additional romance as fanservice, but I'm also open to new ships that emerge as the characters interact and develop ^^

I don't think Tolkien is a good fantasy writer because he scored the highest at some objective Best Fantasy Book Test that every fantasy writer has to take, I think he's a good fantasy writer because he created a world based on things that he was interested in. I feel like a lot of fantasy writers think that they need to create a whole language for their world because Tolkien did and obviously his books are the best so they have to emulate him, but Tolkien did that because he was a linguistics nerd. I think the lesson to be learned from him is not that you have to include elves and deep history and new languages, but that you have to write endlessly about the things you are a huge nerd about and use those things to create your fantasy world

you may be familiar with disney twisted wonderland, the gacha game in which various disney villains are used as direct inspiration for handsome anime boys. well that game was so successful that disney is trying to do it again but this time they're just animeboyifying whatever

here's mickey, goofy, donald, and chip & dale. yeah they turned mickey & friends into anime boys. they're an idol unit or something. they're technically not anime boy versions of the source characters, they have different names. mickey's guy is "Neo Michel". not michael, michel, like he's french. chip & dale are "Ruska Moncrief" and "Ranka Monk", they have different last names, they're not brothers anymore so that they can be yaoibait instead, anyways this post isn't actually about these guys I'm just setting the stage for the actual humanizations I wanted to show you

Well it's obvious from the designs who mike and sully are. but you will also notice. the blonde one on the left. with glasses. monsters inc is kind of famously about just the two guys so they didn't really have a lot of other non-villain characters to take anime boys inspiration from, I guess, so, well,

Yeah it's her. they made an anime boy version of the mean receptionist slug. her name is roz btw, as all of boygachagame twitter has become extremely aware of in the past 3 days as we speculated prior to the release of the full image who tf the third guy was. the anime boy's name is "noah slugger". at this point no parody of the types of things gacha games will make gijinkas of will ever be able to live up to what disney is officially spending their own real money on designing

it’s not weird to find fanfiction from 2021, or 2017, or 2014 that you’ve never read and actually taking your time to read it.

it’s not weird to love it and comment and leave kudos because the author will probably still see it someday and it will make them happy.

it’s not weird to like said author’s work so much that you want to go look for other fics from them.

it’s not weird to go through the authors profile and look for other fics from the ships you like (or maybe some that you’ll give a chance because you liked the author) and maybe bookmark them for later.

it’s not weird to read these other fics and like them too and comment on them because you actually like them and you want to let the author know.

it’s not weird to read fanfiction from 5, or 8, or 10 years ago and actually enjoy and engage with it because it’s perfectly normal to relate to something that’s less than a decade old!

let’s stop treating fanfiction like they’re instagram posts that stop being interesting in 24 hours! fanfiction is NOT social media, fanfiction is art!!! and art doesn’t get old in one day, one year, or even a decade!

read fanfiction! write fanfiction! comment on fanfiction! let’s not let fanculture die people!!!!!

Not only is it not weird, it is ACTIVELY ENCOURAGED. Authors LOVE IT when people do this!!! Its not "weird" and its not "neutral" -- its a fucking DELIGHT. Feel very absolutely free to read though an author's entire back catalogue, leaving kudos and/or comments along the way; we absolutely freaking love when someone does this. There is nothing more joyful than getting a comment notification for an old fic. It will make our day, I promise.
