how long has your character been here
rowena has been here for a little over a year, arriving in march of 2022
what is your characters job
she is high school english teacher, but she does lecture at georgetown from time to time! teaching has always been her calling, her pride and joy so she didn’t want to lose that part of herself here in this century. she is relieved that there was a way for her to continue that here.
where is your character pulled from in their fandom
i’m pulling her after her death, so she remembers everything about her daughter's betrayal, salazar leaving hogwarts, all of that fun stuff
has any magic affected your character
minorly, yes. it has just made her appear younger, closer to her age at the founding of hogwarts rather than when she died. her memories are unaffected so it is purely physical

do i have any right to be out here taking yet another character? absolutely not. am i a proud ravenclaw and also just love rowena’s story? absolutely yes. i just think she’s great tbh like she’s so strong willed but kind, she values people’s characteristics over literally anything else. idk i just really think she’s such a great character
alright short backstory ,,,,,, idk how to do anything short so ignore that tidbit . but rowena ravenclaw was born in scotland around the 10th century. i’m personally playing her as a halfblood as he lineage is unknown and i really like the idea of her being one since most of her house was always made up of muggleborns and half bloods. and she was the one who stood so intensely against salazar wanting only purebloods to attend hogwarts
either way, she is one of the founders of hogwarts, she was the one who decided the locations of the school and was the creator of the moving stairs. so osha send your complaints to this woman
she is dear friends with the founders, having always sought after having friends who would share these kinds of bonds with her, wanting to have a close knit family despite it being just herself and her daughter for so long.
she had one daughter, helena ravenclaw, who is the ghost of ravenclaw house. but helena had betrayed her mother, stealing her diadem and running away with it. it broke rowena’s heart to have her daughter betray her like this. she had already fallen ill when it happened, but the actions of her daughter are said to be what caused rowena’s health to decline even more so.
she had wanted nothing more than to have her daughter come home before she passed, sending the bloody baron out to retrieve her. of course, helena never did, leaving rowena to never be able to pass on that she forgave her for everything. that no matter what helena did, it didn’t matter in the end.
helena’s betrayal was something that died with rowena, a secret that she took to her grave. she is a proud person, always wanting to keep that image even if she will forgive and move on, those things happen behind closed doors. they are not something to just flaunt about for anyone to see. personal relationships are meant to be personal.
rowena is absolutely that kind of person though, despite everything, the forgiving type who will look past all of the actions against her because she knows who they are deep down inside. she admires what is in the mind, in the heart, more than the actions that people take.
she can come off as rather stoic, stern, unfeeling but deep down she is soft, warm, it just takes a certain amount of getting to know her to get past all of that. to see who she really is beyond the mask that she wears.
she just has the vibe of that english teacher who is really strict in class but will absolutely give you the shirt off of her back to make sure you are doing alright. not just academically but in regular life as well.
has reconciled with salazar since arriving within the city, and is very very relieved that she finally has her friend and brother back. she wants to make up for old time, to not make the same mistakes in the past. she just wants to see all of her friends happy
is dating hunter, and very happy in her life there, she is just hoping that things can stay happy for a time!!

i feel like she definitely offers help to students off hours and in other areas of study, so this could be definitely in the muggle sense or even in the magical sense. if they want to learn from one of the founders i feel like rowena would be more than happy to offer lessons

this is a connection on the main already but i definitely want to explore the relationship between rowena and helena’s father, since it’s never discussed in canon and from what we know, rowena was a single mother in the 11th century, i think it would be interesting to flesh out!!
