R.I.M. (Rest In Me)

I only have pride and selfishness in my heart.

I wanted one thing from her and one thing only, from the start.

I wanted a heart like hers, a heart unlike mine.

A heart that was completely pure by design.

Like others before me I told her she deserves everything good in life.

She told me I was wrong, but I knew I was right.

She questioned my reasoning. I tried to explain but she was like dry meat that couldn’t soak up the seasoning.

She walks the earth but her candle kindles no light.

Dead, she is dead inside, but I’m here still alive. Laying in bed at night and feeling her pain. Slowly loosing my grip on her as she goes insane.

“I hate going to school because it hurts so much.”

“I hate listening to some bands because it hurts so much.”

“I hate watching some shows because it hurts so much, but I’ll never let it show.”

Let it show so you can know that you aren’t alone.

I hate to see you feel so lonely.

To me, you’re my one only.

Rest now. Rest your head upon my chest.

I know you’re trying hard. I know you’ve tried your best, but for now rest in peace.

For now, rest in me.
