Parish of Saint Peter and Paul the Apostles - Roman Catholic parish in the Ursynów district in Warsaw In the autumn of 1944, after the fall of the Warsaw Uprising, a homeless priest suffering from war passages, Henryk Kałczyński came to Pyria, taking up pastoral service in the chapel. Since the establishment of the parish, material for the construction of the church began to be collected, including from the demolished tenement house of the parents of priest H. Kałczyński, located at ul. Marszałkowska 20. The neo-Romanesque church - of an Italian nature - was designed by prof. Eng. arch. Antoni Jawornicki, with whom he cooperated Stanisław Credo, and the interior - arch. Czesław Sosnowski. The construction of the foundation began on November 9, 1946. Three pre-war silver coins (two five zloty and ten zloty with the image of Marshal Józef Piłsudski) were deposited under it. The cornerstone was blessed by Fr. Bishop Wacław Majewski on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul the Apostles, June 29, 1947. The erection act, enclosed in a brass cannon shell from World War II, was walled up in the pillar on the right next to the presbytery. In 1951, the communist authorities forbade any further construction. Despite this, the temple was erected further. #architecture #art #zabytki #buildings #silence #bnw # #insta_bw #elevation #church #blackandwhite #bnw_captures #bw #R_A_D #medieval #polandsights #blackandwhitephotography #poland #polska #warszawa #warsaw (w: Ursynów) https://www.instagram.com/p/B36nKwRASsI/?igshid=is2booaads0k
