I'm leaving hand-written letters all around the high traffic areas of the university (canteens, library, union) for the start of the new academic year.
Here's what they say:
"I know right now is quite a stressful time and you might be struggling. You might even be thinking you’re not cut out for this after all. But I assure you, you’ll get through this. You’re going to get used to the workload, you’re going to get used to all the specifics, you’re going to make friends who’ll laugh with you and cry with you and pretty much drag you through the hard times. And, you know what? You’re going to have the best time of your life. You’re going to miss these days when it’s all over and you’ve earned that degree.
Now, if you’re not in first year, you’re probably reading this and thinking, “Well, this doesn’t apply to me.” But it does. Every new year at this place is a learning experience and you have to get accustomed to it. But you’ll pull through and it’ll feel fantastic and, as before, your friends will be the most awesome support you can ever imagine. Later you’ll laugh about how worried you were about this coming year and how easy it is now and you’ll love being at university. Because this is a brilliant community. You just need to find you place in it.
Anyway, hope you have a great year."
