Just wanted to update you, since I haven't said anything in a while. I have been busy with school lately, but I PROMISE this will not be left unfinished. Too many good things to show Misha! 

I am going to Asylum 12 on May 16-18th, in Birmingham. I will give Misha the book there! 

Since they are pretty strict about not allowing gifts during panels, I plan to give it to him in the Coffee Lounge. Don't think I'll be able to get video (video is strictly prohibited), but I'll try to get audio! I'll definitely get something for you guys to listen to/read/look at about it :)

Because it's not for several months now, you can still submit stuff to me!!! If you did or do any amazing random acts, definitely let me know and I can still include it in the book. And if you want to write Misha a letter, send that to me as well!!

Feeling creative? Well, sharpen your pencils and put your thinking caps on.  Random Acts is planning an art competition in the next few weeks.

We’ll be asking our friends to tag their works of art, and a few lucky designs will be chosen to become our official Random Acts Kindness Cards.  The theme is kindness (of course!) but feel free to express yourself using whatever media you like best - paint, pencil, photography, macaroni art…it’s really up to you.  

We’ll be posting more information in the near future.  So stay tuned!  We can’t wait to see what you create!

Have you ever come across a homeless individual and felt totally uncomfortable?

You see them and you know they are in need, but you are not sure what to do. You know that handing them money is not the best thing. But, you also see that they clearly have some needs. Their lips are chapped. They are hungry. They are thirsty. They are asking for help.

How can you help?

Here is a simple idea - blessing bags.

This was such an easy project. We are now going to keep a few “Blessing Bags” in our car so that when we do happen to see someone on the streets who is homeless, we can hand them a Blessing Bag. I first learned of these bags from my friend, Julie. I am using the picture of her bags (see above) because the ones we took were taken in horrible lighting and turned out really grainy and hard to see what is inside of them.

If you’d like to make your own Blessing Bags, this is what you would need:

Gallon size Ziplock bags

items to go in the bags, such as:

chap stick

packages of tissues

toothbrush and toothpaste

comb

soap

trail mix

granola bars

crackers

pack of gum

band aids

mouthwash

coins (could be used to make a phone call, or purchase a food item)

hand wipes

you could also put in a warm pair of socks, and maybe a Starbucks gift card

Assemble all the items in the bags, and maybe throw in a note of encouragement. Seal the bags and stow in your car for a moment of providence.

This would be a great activity to do with some other families. Each family could bring one of the items going into the bags (ex: toothbrushes). Set up all the items around a table and walk around it with the ziplocks and fill the bags.

I think we should all be kind every day and do random acts of kindness whenever the opportunity arrises.

But I think next year, on Misha’s birthday, we should make an earthquake of kindness instead of storm. Rock the very foundations of the world and make the news.

Spread the word, be kind, make some noise, be the change we want to see, and be inspiring like Misha is to us.

I saw that someone asked when submissions should be in by, but since you might go in May instead, are all submissions still due today (26th)? Thanks for putting this together btw! You are abnosome :>

You can keep submitting stuff! Previous deadline is null and void.

I'll let you guys know when I don't need anymore contributions, but don't worry about getting it in ASAP. As long as it says "NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS" on the left column of this blog, I'll be accepting more, and I'll make it obvious when that's no longer the case. And even if I don't get a ticket for May, there's still plenty of conventions between september and then, so no need to rush. 

Especially if you guys have really great stories/acts, I still want to hear them! 

And artwork is also still very much welcome.

I have a question for you guys.

So designing the scrapbook is taking longer than I'd hoped. I'll still definitely finish it, but it might not be ready and printed for the convention at the end of September. 

If everything goes as planned, I will be seeing Misha at AECON5 in Frankfurt in May. 

I know it's a while away, but would you guys be okay with me giving it to him then? (only if I'm for sure gonna go). It'd really mean a lot to me since I'm putting a lot of work into making it. So by then it wouldn't be much of a birthday present, of course, but I don't think that really matters? And if I hand it over myself, I could make sure that him getting it is filmed and stuff. Also, I can make the content from the scrapbook available on tumblr when I'm done so you guys can see how it turned out :) Also, this will give plenty of time to make it as nice as possible!

We’re still counting, but as of now, we can say that this week we’ve received donations of $29,033.74!  Thanks to all the amazing support we received this Tuesday, we’re a few steps closer to conquering the world with kindness.  

We appreciate your help and we hope you’ll continue to spread kindness on a daily basis.  There’s no better time to perform a random act of kindness than today.  So get out there and do some good!

This is a pic of all the signs we put up around town. (When we came back not even 2 hours later, people had taken tabs of the signs! ) We also went to a nursing home and chatted with some of the residents, paid for many peoples drinks and food, and we put nice little notes in suicide/self-harm books in the library. There was actually a lady who when we paid for her drink, she bought a drink for the person behind her! It started a chain reaction. :) Misha, you have inspired my friends and I to do this kind of stuff regularly. I had so much fun, and it made me happy just to plan it! Thank you, and I wish you the most magical of birthdays! Happy 39th!

There is no limit, just please include everything you want to submit in the same email. And I can’t guarantee that everything will make it in, but I will include as much as I can :)

It works well if you have a message for Misha, then briefly list the things you did underneath, and I can include it as such:

*Message for Misha* -Sarah, Amsterdam, 20 posted uplifting notes around town, helped neighbor with yardwork, donated to random acts

Today we gave muffins to random people in the city. It was a great experience! Some people showed interest whilst others just were confused because they didn't expect us to do something without a reward.
