One of them fixes the tea, the other fixes a joint; they're the same and yet could not be more different. One of them kisses like the world is about to end, desperately and completely, the other kisses like they have all the time in the world, slow and carefree; which is which could surprise you. To her, they're home; to them, she's an impossibility, an unbelievable dream, the one girl who can love them both, fully and equally.
AU: Abbey lives with the Rudys instead of Finn (sorry - forgot XD)
Rudy Too watches the sleeping redhead in his sleeping bag, all rolled up in it and looking so peaceful; a small part of his mind wondered where he would sleep tonight, since she’d taken over his spot tonight, switching between his or One’s every night. That was part of the little agreement they’d made when they’d taken her in, less than a month ago, although it felt like she’d always been part of their lives now and he never wanted her out of it; it had taken only days for him to fall head over heels for her, he didn’t know what it was about her but it was as if she’d been made for him, like she understood what he was going through all the time. She opened her pale blue eyes, settling on him and he blushed all over from being caught watching her like that, but she’s nice and she just smiles before reaching a hand out to him and much to his own surprise, he takes it; she pulls him toward her and before he knows it, she’s snuggled up against his chest, all nice and warm and soft in their sleeping bag.
I was wondering, would you all be interested in individual posts about Abbey, Rudy and Rudy Too as well as Rabbey posts, or should I just keep going with only the ship posts?
Abbey Smith sighed in the darkness, listening the noise of the night around her, all warm in the small crowded flat. The light snoring coming behind her would probably lul her back to sleep soon but as she laid awake there, she felt totally happy and at peace. She looked over her shoulder at the bloke lying there, his big wonky nose buried deep in her hair, he would probably stirred a bit when she turned her head back but would stay asleep. She placed a small kiss on his cheek. She turned back - he stirred - and she looked down at their hands, at their legs entangled in a big mess of limbs and their fingers laced together. All fifteen of them laced over Rudy Too’s belly; his, hers and Rudy One’s on top as if protecting the both them, although, they all knew it was her and Too who were the protectors in their relationship and One was the protectee.
It took them quite some time to get here, in their bed, in their little flat on the Estate, that both Rudies would like to leave but where they stay for her and her illogical fear of getting lost if they move. To become comfortable with everything that was happening between the three of them and even though, it was odd and far from perfect; none of them would have it any other way.
It had started back on community service, a bit earlier than she’d known, with the two of them talking, Too explaining that he fancied someone and had no idea how to go around and telling her. His other self had given him some tricks to try and use, each one more doubtful than the last, before telling Too that he, too, had someone in his sight and planned to asked her out that very weekend. After some prodding and probing, they were both planning to ask her out.
They agreed that they would let her decide who she wanted out them and it quickly turned into an all-out dating war. She would go out with Too one evening and then One the next and every night, she’d think that after that date, she knew who she wanted to be with; romantic, gentle Too or adventurous and funny One. But really, each date simply made her feelings stronger and harder to untangle.
And so, one day, she sat them down together, telling them she couldn’t do this anymore, couldn’t date both of them like that, because it broke her heart each night and because she simply couldn’t choose one over the other.
“I love you,” she’d said. “Both of you. But I don’t want to make you both suffer by continuing this. It’s not right for you or for me.”
The next three weeks were awful and sad, all three of them in pain and all three of them unsure of how to fix this whole mess. Neither blokes wanted to back down and she couldn’t stand the idea of being with one and not the other. But she couldn’t ask that from them now, could she?
It was Rudy One who ended up saying it. “Abbs, would you be our girlfriend and we’ll be your boyfriends? ‘Cause we talked me ‘n ‘im and we fucking miss ye, love. We prefer to share than not ‘ave ye at all, like.”
And just like that, she was back to see both of them; one evening she’d spend sleeping on the couch in One’s arms and the next she’d be in Too’s sleeping bag. She’d try to be as fair as possible in everything from evenings out to sex to kissing to smiles. Still jealousy was part of their lives; whenever she’d be behind close doors with one of them, the other would worry that he was being excluded of something.
And so one night, the three of them went out on a date together. She held Too’s hand as they walked, her other arm around One’s waist which earned them some strange looks and a few unpleasant comments that upsetted Too. All three of them sat down on a bench, One and her talking down Too and much to her surprise, it was Rudy One who once again said what needed to be said: “Mate, ye’ll need thicker skin if we’re gonna make a threeway relationship work. It won’t be easy, probably gonna proper ‘ard on all of us at times but ye’ll ‘ave both of us to rely on ‘n to care about ye, mate. Come on, stop cryin’ and give us ‘ug.”
The date had been brilliant; fun dinner with both of them playing footsies with her under the table, and then not realizing that they were playing it with each other once she folded her legs under herself. They both blushed to the top of their ears when she told them. They shared the dessert three way, although One finished what she and Too left. And after that, at the cinema, sitting in the back row of the dark room, she held both their hands, snogging them both in turns. And that night, for the first time, she spent the night with both of them; they all thought it would be awkward but that they’d have to get over it at some point and so as she made love slowly with Rudy Too first, One tried to watch telly but after a few minutes he turned to look, giving himself a slow wank as he did. None of them feeling uncomfortable for longer than a few seconds. And when One’s turn came, Too surprised them both, watching them with complete fascination. And afterward, they zipped their sleeping bags together, the three of them snuggling together in the darkened back office, thankful that Finn had moved in with his sister about a month back.
It took nearly three months after they started spending the nights all together before one of them ask to join in while she was making love with the other. Of course, it was One who asked and Too was the one to say yes. She’d never felt anything like that before.
After that, things changed very organically, she wasn’t just making love with them, they were all making love together. But not only that, they were doing everything together from chores to dates to sex.
Finally, they told their little group and surprisingly enough, Alex was the one who was okay with the whole thing while Jess and Finn eyed them suspiciously. The whole thing with Finley broke Rudy One’s heart but after a while, even their little mate came around and seemed to accept it - showing up uninvited at their housewarming party for the flat with a great big homemade lasagna.
“Ye awake, love? Is everything awrite?”
Rudy Too’s voice took her out of her reverie and she quickly reassured him that everything was fine. “But would you be the big spoon for a while? I wanna be hugged on by both my blokes,” she whispered to him. Moments later, she was facing One, hugged on by Too who was whispering sweet-nothings in her ears.
“Will the two of ye go back to sleep already,” One’s grumpy, half-asleep voice joining in. “Big day tomorrow ‘n that.”
She looked up across the room at the long white dress hanging there, between the two tuxedos. He was right, tomorrow was going to be a big one.
