Took a traditional rattle making workshop and hyperfixated too hard on decorating it... spent my weekend tanning rabbit hides in the suburbs. Oops.
Yes, those are my ski poles used as a smoking rack.

My sister bought some rabbit skins because she was going to try and take up leatherworking and then she did not. She asked me to try and do something the fur so it didn't go to waste, so I'm making her a lap blanket.
I really like the way it's turning out, but I definitely need some fabric to line the reverse side with so it's not just bare leather (that I may or may not have written on sharpie in to keep the rows straight) (and also that I may or may not have glued the seams to because some of the leather is real fuckin thin)
It's not huge because she only had the six skins, but she's also a lot smaller than me.

First attempt at tanning a rabbit pelt! It wasnt too bad overall, but fleshing the hide was hard. I used a soap tanning method, but i think next time i am going to use salt and eggs instead.
Just finished egg tanning my rab.bit hide! It's so nice to finally have it finished! ~ Mod Fowl
drying a rabbit hide, its been covered in salt for like a week to dry, then i washed it and now trying to dry it flat
RED TANNED BUT UNBROKEN RABBIT HIDE FOR SALE This was from a meat rabbit where all the parts were respectfully utilized. It is unbroken, which means that it will be "crinkly" and not pliable like broken hides. I do not have the time to break the hide, but any person can break a hide without specialized equipment. There is a thin spot on its back, but otherwise it's a very thick soft hide. Asking $25 plus shipping.
