BRING BACK THE VW RABBIT PICKUP
16 August, 2020
Day 1: After four years of sitting in storage it is time to bring this project back to life. Step one; new battery, a little head scratching, a lot of cranking, then lightbulb. Prime the damn fuel injection pump. That done it started up as if it hadn’t been neglected for the last four years. The FI pump still leaks like it did when I put it into storage.
Got an old college acquaintance who has been informative and encouraging since I bought this truck, who has an early 00’s 1.9L tdi for me. Next step is to pick that up, do all the work to get it ready, pick up the S&P ALH swap kit and get myself in deeper water with a car than I have ever been before. Being bad at something is the first step to kinda getting good at it? In any case, the journey has begun.
Front clip replacement progress... it's mostly welding on, just have to finish some areas. It's on and holding though. No more moving the clip around in my garage. Progress!
Owned it for almost a month, been daily driving it and this is the first time I've had to fill the tank! Definitely gets some decent mpg's. Now I can officially track the mileage!
Today sucked a butt, so here’s a shitty cell phone rolling shot of the turdasaurus.
