At least 217 people were killed after a magnitude 7.1 earthquake rattled Central Mexico on Sept. 19, 2017, toppling buildings and leaving an unknown number of victims trapped under rubble. The tremblor was the deadliest to strike the country in decades, the Associated Press reported, citing the head of Mexico’s National Civil Defense Agency. The epicenter was located in Raboso, 76 miles southwest of Mexico City, which also suffered significant damage. First responders and volunteers in the city continued working Wednesday to dig through the rubble, find victims and deliver water.
