Here’s an actual Au for Naruto that I’ve had in my head for a while:

Drag racing (like the cars) AU

Konohagakure is a small town where there’s little entertainment

So most teens (and let’s be honest adults) result to drag racing

There’s just something about fixing your car and putting all this work into it. Then to go feel the speed of your car from racing and then earning money for winning.

The top two people with the most wins in their town are Kakashi and Gai, the two race so much and tune and tinker with their cars that it’s hard to keep up

The teens that have won the most races are Sasuke and Naruto

Naruto is known for being one of those kids who had basically a wagon with no wheels to start with to having mustangs

Sauske always had the money for all the fancy upgrades and muscle cars

The sand siblings are those kids from another town that come during the summer

Racers: All of team 7, Neji, Lee, Gai, Ino, Shikamaru, Choji, Hinata, Kiba, Kurenai, Temari, and Gaara

Mechanics: Tenten, Asuma, Shino, Kankuro, and Baki

Ok so unless you follow my spam account you won’t know wth I’m talking about but this is post for context if you wanna see.

I just wanna say Junpei’s a mechanic for Anko, they’d be a racer if it weren’t for the fact that they didn’t already have so many speeding tickets to the point that the next step is a license suspension.

Never challenge a mechanic to race

Most racers who don’t have shops and do everything themselves usually think that mechanics don’t know how to race and piggyback on people who regularly race.

This isn’t the case however. A little secret in the drag race community in Konoha is that most mechanics have illegal car mods. So it’s not that they’re afraid of losing (they know they’re not gonna lose) it’s that they’re afraid of getting fined.

You really think Tenten isn’t gonna make her car the fastest by any means possible? Or that Kankuro owns a car he’s not even allowed to take on the road?

Shino raced a guy who wouldn’t shut up about mechanics being a cop out and let’s just say that man learnt to keep his mouth shut unless he was ready to show.

Moral of the story: don’t race a mechanic.
