Well, Sam’s a Bearer and when Cas was God he was able to persuade Sam into sleeping with him. Sam ends up preggers but doesn’t tell anyone. So instead of settle down with Amelia in season 8 he’s taking care of his baby.
((A/N: I headcanoned that Sam listened to a lot of late 80s/early 90s grunge/alt rock during his pregnancy in this universe so... the Pixies))
"With your feet in the air and your head on the ground," Sam sung softly, gently bouncing Jessica in his arms. "Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Wheeere is my mind?"
The pregnancy had been... shocking. To say the least. But even more shocking was how quickly he fell in love with his daughter. He didn't expect the sudden wave of love he felt looking into his baby's beautiful blue eyes. Just like Cas'--well, Jimmy's--but it was her baby blonde hair which reminded him of Jess.
And so he had named her Jessica.
Jessica's breath slowed as her eyes drifted closed and Sam smiled. He laid her in her crib, and sank into his wooden rocking chair with a sigh. His head tilted back, and his eyes drifted closed until--
Sam's eyes shot open. The sound of wings had been so faint he'd thought he was dreaming.
"Sam, I'm so sorry." Cas walked to the crib and stared down at her.
"Jessica," Sam offered. "Her name's Jessica."
"She's beautiful, Sam. You never told me you were a bearer."
"It never seemed relevant."
Cas's gaze landed back on Sam, and Sam nearly flinched. Remembered the way Castiel--then, God--had stared into his eyes as he pulled him to orgasm with a quiet "Come for me, boy." Sam wasn't ready to see Cas again, and anyway, how had he even come to be there?
Jessica's cry jolted Sam awake with a start. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes, and shook his head back into the present.
It was always the same dream. Cas would show up, with no explanation of where he had been for the last 12 months, and Sam would be at a loss for words. Anger, relief, joy--they all warred for first place. He would never know if Cas had known he was a bearer; whether the consummation had been intentional or not. Whether Jessica had been Cas's way of leaving Sam with something to remember him by.
He pulled Jessica from her crib and cradled her to his chest.
"Where is my mind? Where is my mind? Wheeeere is my mind?"
