AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO THE FAIR CITIZENS FROM THE HIGH COURT.

At midnight all are invited to their respective district courtyards for a mass celebration of the 49th anniversary of the The City’s establishment.  Join us in the Commemoration of Hope, celebrating the emergence of The City from the radioactive ashes of the Post World.  Institutionalized in the somber forgotten wastelands, The City was erected as a sanctuary for humanity to restore social and cultural order among the remains of the superpowers that had abandoned the vox populi.  The celebrations tonight are in honor of the people, without whom, the radioactive wastelands would be the graveyard of humanity.  

We would like to remind you that a fireworks display will be held tonight in the Regal District.  Again, all are welcome to attend, with the exception of non-Central Zone inhabitants.  If you are to notice the ever present smog beginning to flash vibrant colors and undulate do not be alarmed, these are characteristics of firework performances. But we would like to remind you if you hear any loud banging noises uncharacteristic to fireworks, in the minutes after the glowing and undulating, this is abnormal and should be reported to the patrolling officers.

● 「放射性物質ゼロ」は、科学的にはあり得ない 　まずは、科学ベースで考えてみよう。 　そもそも、目標に掲げられている「放射性物質ゼロ」は科学的にはあり得ない。食品中には、放射性カリウムや放射性ポロニウムなど自然の放射性物質が必ず、含まれている。食品中の自然の放射性物質による被ばく線量は、日本人で平均して年間0.41mSv。どこの店頭にも、放射性物質入りの食品がずらりと並んでいる。 　人は大人であれば常に、放射性カリウム4000Bq、放射性炭素2500Bq程度を体内に持っていて、放射線に被ばくしている。体に放射性物質を持っているのは大人だけでなく子どもも乳児も同様だ。 　「イオンの言う放射性物質は、原発から出てしまった人工核種のことだろう。揚げ足取りの突っ込みをしなくても」。そんな声が聞こえてきそうだ。 　だが、人工であれ自然であれ、出す放射線の性質は同じ。人の細胞が「これは自然だから、DNAを傷つけない。あれは人工核種だからDNAがめちゃくちゃになる」などと区別するはずがないではないか。 　「自然は安全、人工は危ない」という思い込みは、食品の世界で根強く語られてきた間違いだ。イオンともあろうものが、こんな初歩的な科学的誤解をプレスリリースで拡散するとは、驚くしかない。 　さらに、人工核種のみを考えても、ゼロはかなえられない。 　分析の感度、精度を上げて検出限界値を下げて行けば、多くの食品から人工核種が検出されるだろう。それは、福島原発事故由来ではない。1950年代から60年代にかけて行われた核実験や、その後もあった核廃棄物の海洋投棄などに由来する人工核種が出てくる。 　また、水産物から放射性ヨウ素が検出されるケースもあり、医療に使われた放射性ヨウ素が下水、川を経て海に出て、水産物に取り込まれているとみられている。 　環境放射能データベースで検索すると福島原発事故以前、100分の1Bq/kgや1000分の１Bq/kgのオーダーで、食品が分析され続けて来たことがわかるはずだ。 　加えて、イオンの自主検査では、分析における問題が生じている。食品によって検出限界値が違っており、同じベクレレ数値でも食品によって「検出せず」になったり、「検出限界値を超過」になったりする。判断の公平性が失われているのだ。 　イオンの自主検査結果を見てほしい。11月3日に検査結果が出たメジマグロは、放射性セシウム134が「検出せず」（検出限界値9.3Bq/kg）、セシウム137が11Bq/kg（検出限界値8.8Bq/kg）だった。そのため、イオンは販売を取りやめた。 　一方、コメや野菜、果物などは検出限界値が18Bq/kgとか20Bq/kgなどという高めの数字が並び、その検査で「検出せず」であれば販売OKである。つまり、販売を止めたメジマグロよりも放射性物質含量が高いコメや野菜、果物が、イオンの店頭で売られている可能性を否定できない。 　この数値を見てある水産関係者は「水産物だけが、検出限界値を低く設定されているようだ。恣意的ではないか」と憤っていた。もっともな話だ。たとえばコメは、毎日食べるもので摂取量が多いので、より検出限界値を下げて極力正確に測定する、というのが普通の考え方。メジマグロは、コメのように毎日、数百gも食べるようなものではないので、かなり数値が高くても健康リスクという点では問題とならない。 　結局、イオンの自主検査は、消費者のリスクを考えてのことではなく、数値の意味を読み取れない消費者相手のパフォーマンスではないか、という疑念がますます深まって行く。
