After UV come X-rays, which, like the upper ranges of UV are also ionizing. Hard X-rays have shorter wavelengths than soft X-rays. As they can pass through most substances, X-rays can be used to “see through” objects. The most notable use is the X-ray images in medicine, a process known ad radiography, or the use of X-rays to view a non-uniformly composed material such as the human body, as well as for high-energy physics and astronomy.
Neutron stars, a type of stellar remnant resulting from the gravitational collapse of a massive star during a Type II, Type Ib or Type Icsupernova event, and accretion disks around black holes, a region of space-time from which nothing, not even light, can escape, emit X-rays. It enables people to study them. X-rays are given off by stars and are strongly emitted by some types of nebulae.
