Two nights a week, Vera liked to treat herself. Once her work had been done, she took a shower, used a homemade sugar scrub to exfoliate, and settled into her dormitory with a mud mask and a glass or two of Sangiovese. This time was often used for reflection, but this evening Vera’s luxuriant mood was impeded upon by the fact that she hadn’t received a lick of correspondence from her friends in days.

Teddy’s head lolled back as he stared up at the ceiling. His words weren’t flowing like normal, and at-- he rolled his head to one side to eye the alarm clock on his bedstand-- nearly one in the morning, it was unlikely that he’d provide anything more substantial.
As of 6pm EST, Radical Magic’s second event is underway. Keep in mind, characters outside the hall and characters inside the hall would be separated from morning until nighttime, where the volunteers return to the building. Please plan your interactions accordingly. Be sure to check out the linked NPCs-- these are Teaching Assistants to the professors they work under. All starters should be tagged ‘radicalevent2’ in addition to ‘radicalstarter’ so we know what’s going on when. Thanks for your participation!
Throughout the day, there are a handful of announcements that garner attention within Karuzos Hall. The first comes from Professor Oliver in the wee hours of the morning shortly after the students have been sequestered, addressing those who have volunteered to help round up magical creatures.
Alright, I see we’ve got a decent amount of you rounded up. Good. Thanks for taking a chance here. I’ll make this brief so we can get to work. Erichson, you’ll be needed to help Professor Zhang get the hall’s reinforcements up. There’s fire over near Curio and we can’t have it spreading here. We’re sending a couple of folks over to contain the Tebos that are rooting around the Greenhouses-- Elmakki, you’re on those, I understand you’re familiar with the breed. Marcie, we’ll need you rounding up the Jarveys in the library. Dreyfus, you’ll be out there, too. You there, Mitchell. Quit looking so gleeful. You’re going to be on the move, rounding up Mackled Malaclaws. I trust you can handle that. Atterbury, you’re with me, Jackson and Pax to get the Thunderbird under control. Mulligan-- meet up with Shana and get those Thestrals under control, and for the love of god, find literally anyone else who can also see them and take them with you. And, ah, you, D’amico. Kelpie duty with Tristan. I’d bring some rainboots.
The volunteer groups head out and a sense of aimlessness overtakes the place. The sun doesn’t rise but by mid-morning, Professor Allan has taken to rounding up volunteers inside Karuzos.
Thank you for volunteering. We’ve got to find some semblance of order while we’re waiting for everything to get settled out there. Miss Raleigh, your reputation precedes you. You’ll be in charge of, for lack of a better word delegation. Overseeing everything would help me immensely. We’ve got breakfast to be served, and of course lunch soon as well. Mister Hawkins, you’ll be on food duty. Miss Kyung, I noticed you are particularly good with the younger children, would you be so kind as to keep an eye on them? They could certainly use a whimsical distraction. As for the rest of you, look out for each other, please. My assistants Marina, Russel, and Daisy are here to answer any questions. Oh, and Mister Tibbets? Try and keep out of trouble, we’d appreciate it.
Sometime around noon, The Summit’s own Warren Riley makes an appearance to frantically wave his clipboard while attempting to keep his voice down. He doesn’t do a very good job but manages to avoid inciting a panic.
We’re missing students. I’ve done the math, it checks out! Everyone from Salem accounted for, no sweat, but the Summit? We’re down half a dozen signatures. Ha, Jimmy. Marti, Susana. Patterson, Teresa. Savrasov, Yana. Wood, Patrick. The list goes on-- well, I lied, it actually doesn’t-- but where are these kids? Out there in the storm? No doubt being devoured by the manticores which I’ve heard have taken up residence in Jonker Hall. Someone find these attendees, or we’re toast. The paperwork that’s required for losing a kid-- that’s an administrative nightmare. I-- I-- Christ, I need a Xanax.
AN UPCOMING RADICAL MAGIC EVENT – THE CAGE IS FULL [PART ONE]
Roleplay Date: Second week of October, 2017 Real Time: March 25 at 6 pm EST - TBD Location: Salem’s Karuzos Hall
Salem, reputably known for its abundance of magical creatures, can only recall very few instances of any sort of mishaps between students and the creatures contained in or out of the school. However, the same force that interfered with the Inaugural Summit Conclave just a month ago has put something else in motion.
In the dead of night, the magical creatures were released on the Salem campus. More than that, these creatures were angry and provoked. Both animals native and foreign to America have taken hold of the school, terrorizing everything within sight.
It took no longer than twenty minutes for the sirens to ring and a school-wide evacuation to commence. The faculty guided the students to the Karuzos Hall, where major protection charms were put in place to keep the creatures out. Naturally, the Salem IT team has turned off all electricity and data to prevent any further possible damage. Still, with a glass ceiling and several windows, students can still see some of the mayhem taking place just inches away from them.
The Beasts on campus can be found HERE.
Where to Start:
The event begins with the school-wide alarm blaring throughout the campus and students being herded into the Karuzos Hall. Headmaster Lonnie Tate silences the panicked students to deliver a speech:
“Good evening, students. As you know, we are on a lock down. There is an emergency situation on campus regarding various magical creatures from the Menagerie. At the moment, our focus is on containment of these creatures.
We are safe here in Karuzos Hall, and the Scamander staff as well as the Beast Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures are working to re-capture each of these beasts. Once they have been contained, we will no longer be on lock down.
Any students or Summit attendees who are of age are invited to join the professionals and assist containment of the creatures loose on campus that are deemed not dangerous to competent wizards. If you are interested in doing so, Professor Oliver and his TAs will be available once attendance has been taken. Parents will be informed as soon as this is under control, and we do appreciate your patience and your cooperation with this crisis.”
After volunteers are separated to meet with adult advisors, the remaining students are role-called for attendance. The students are meant to mingle quietly while the proper sanctions to protect the Hall from outside threats are put into place. Of course, with so much going on, there’s a lot to talk about between students.
Despite the chaos going on outside, faculty are trying to keep things as normal as possible within Karuzos Hall-- Candle lamps and wands are lit as a constant to light the room. Students injured in the fray to safety being tended to by those expert in Healing. Pre-packed sandwiches, crackers, and water bottles are properly dispensed to students in need. Sleeping bags have been put in place.
