If you were just walking past this little crab apple tree in my neighborhood, you probably wouldn't give it much thought. It's winter time and the leaves are gone, fruit is shriveled, nothing much to see. Look closer. There are tiny buds starting to appear, and little patches of lichen, too, which are life in a way we don't always understand. Maybe it's not what we consider traditionally beautiful, but it's alive, sustaining life, and filled with hope for the next season. Just because something doesn't fit the stereotype of what you expect success or happiness or "good" to look like, don't rule out its potential until you've taken a closer look.
